Year 1296...

Young Fyodor went to school the following day and as he entered the room, his classmates were chit-chatting and roaming around, showing their abilities to one another. A boy in his class named Philip summoned tiny golems made of tree roots and clay on his desk while a girl named Anna made her hair harden like steel. Fyodor seemed amused by their talents while envious as he clenched his fist. His mind is filled of his mother's words: 'Never ever show your ability to anyone.'
The class then went on their respective seats as their teacher arrived as well as Fyodor. As the professor entered the room, he threw hundreds of darts at the students which made the students shocked and the room was in chaos. Others immediately defended themselves while the others were hit in different parts of their bodies.

"Don't worry. These darts won't kill you," the professor said as the darts were floating in the air then they all dropped on the floor. "These darts were made of synthetic materials, don't worry."

The class sighed while the others cried but Fyodor just stared blankly at their professor. Their professor noticed Fyodor's presence and he stared at him for a few seconds then shifted his attention to the class.

"I'm your Arcane Combat and Defense professor, Professor Nikolas," the professor introduced himself to the class as he raised his hand and the darts were floating then all of a sudden, the darts were turned into ash. "And I'm an esper."

The class were dumbfounded and started murmuring and chanting they wanted to see more of their professor's ability. But their professor shut them down and pointed at the door.

"All of you, at the field." Professor Nikolas commanded and everyone went to the field where their training would start.
They lined up based on their seating arrangements then their professor stood in front of them, used his psychic abilities to pull the equipment that would be used for their training. He then passed the equipment to the students one by one. These equipment would test and evaluate the students what their abilities were.

"We have a sword, a bow, a polearm and anything that are needed for ability users," Professor Nikolas said to them and explained what they would do. "I want you to attack me with any weapon of your choice you think is suitable for your abilities,"

"There were 4 main elements in this world — Air, Water, Fire and Earth. We also have the subelements that were branches of the main elements — Electric, Nature and Ice. But Ice abilities were banned due to the fall of Uttaradhruva. The Deity even removed the Ice abilities from the heavens thus no one would be granted Ice abilities since then, that's why we have freezers in our homes to preserve food without using the abilities of Ice. I hope no one's an Ice ability user here," their professor added and prepared his stance. "Now pick up your weapons."

The class picked up their weapons that were compatible with their abilities while Fyodor was confused about what weapon he would pick. Few minutes of overthinking later, Fyodor picked up the slender sword and sighed.
'I hope they won't find out.' He thought.

"Now, attack!" their professor ordered them to charge at him and the whole class attacked.

"Earth Summon Technique: Earth Golem: Gan," Philip summoned an earth golem of his size then the golem charged to Professor Nikolas as it swung its arms to punch the professor but Professor Nikolas glared at the golem and it crumbled to pieces. Philip then dashed and swung his polearm towards their professor but then he tripped and he fell to the ground. The others laughed at him while Philip was struggling to get up for his butt was hurting.
