A Powerful Ally

{* ZENITSU*}
Zenitsu bit back a scream of surprise. The girl was about his age, and she was beautiful. To be fair, all women were. But she was like a hero emerging from darkness to help others! He thought he might faint for a minute..
"Are you coming, or what?" She said, her hand on her hip sassily. Looking at her, he noticed that she had weird dark blue hair, and a sword at her hip. Her haori was black with roses outlined in a deep rose gold color, unique and beautifully crafted.
"Uh, are you a member of the Demon Slayer Corps?" Tanjiro asked, a little nervously.
"Yes." She started walking away.
The trio scrambled up to follow her. She was really pretty.. But Zenitsu was still scared of how dark and foreboding the alleyway was, even in daytime.
"Who are you?" Inosuke demanded.
Tch! Typical Inosuke! So arrogant, he'd never get any girls!
"My name is Mizuki Kai. Mizuki is just fine." She said tartly without looking back, not even a slight hesitation to her pace.
"So.. are you-" Tanjiro began, only to get interrupted by her.
"We're here. Get inside and quickly. A demon has been lurking around here and I need to capture it alive." She growled at them, and then vanished inside. The three hurried in after her into an impressively sized house. They entered the genkan, and Tanjiro and Zenitsu started to take off their shoes while Inosuke stared at the halfway through the door to the main room.
"WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?" He shouted.
"We're taking off our shoes so we don't track mud or insects inside the house from our shoes, you moron." Zenitsu shot back.
"It's respectful to take off your shoes when entering someone's home in this room, called a genkan. Please take off your shoes, Inosuke." Tanjiro said kindly to Inosuke. Zenitsu had no clue why he was always so nice to everyone. Even infuriating Inosuke! Ugh.
"Fine!"
"Thank you."
Zenitsu rolled his eyes and walked inside. Mizuki was already walking out of the kitchen with matsutake rice and tea on a tray.
"Please sit down." She said, seeming oddly lighter and more comfortable. Zenitsu couldn't help but notice the frightened edge of her breathing smooth down.
"I have some questions for you three. Or should i say, you four?" She eyed the box Inosuke had been carrying for Tanjiro, since he'd injured his shoulder last mission. "It's a demon, isnt it? Your little sister, isnt she?"
Tanjiro looked stunned, and started to attempt to stutter an explanation when Mizuki started laughing. It was a high, clear sound, but still tainted with a constant slight anxiety.
"Calm down, boy. News travels fast in the Corps." She said, despite Tanjiro most likely being older than her. "Whats your rank?"
"We're rank Kanoe." Inosuke said proudly.
"Kanoe? I wonder why they'd send such low ranks.."
"Well, whats your rank, lady?!" Inosuke scowled.
"Kinoe." She responded in a bitingly sweet tone.
What?? This girl WAS KINOE? She was so close to becoming a Hashira! Zenitsu couldn't help but stare at her. She wasn't petite, exactly, but certainly not bulky or well muscled. He wondered how she'd climbed the ranks so quickly.. perhaps joining the Demon Slayer Corps very early?
"Im Zenitsu Agatsuma. " He said. "Why did you choose to help us?"
"Because I have to admit, you all were very curious looking and definitely foreign here."
Mizuki smiled. "But, also, I was sent here to give you temporary shelter and assistance in your mission with an old friend."
Just then, Zenitsu realized there was a person upstairs, now coming down the stairs, he believed. It was a human, familiar and not at the same time. Tanjiro must've caught their scent, because he turned toward the steps with an excited look.
Just then, the person started walking down the steps. Zenitsu thought hard to where he'd seen that face before, and realized it was the guy from Final Selection that had grabbed the little girl's hair.
Tanjiro beamed.  "Genya!"

Mizuki met Genya when they both stepped in to beat  the crap out of a man who was harrasing an 8 year old on the street, and Mizuki knew from his outfit he was a Corps member that had been sent her way. So he went to her house and had stayed there up until the present chapter!
