Flash wasn't like other superheroes. While some superheros would bring passed out kids to their lair or adopt them before you wake up like Batman does, Flash did the normal thing: Being us to the hospital.
When I woke up I was on the defensive. My eyes opened and I jerked up, wires following after me like I was a cyborg recharging.
I stop when I see hospital walls and monitors hooked up to me. My head hurts and I my muscles do too but something felt off. It was oddly quiet.
I hear grunting and turn to see Damian handcuffed to a gurney, a gag in his mouth as he pulled at his bindings with fury in his eyes. I would have laughed if my stomach didn't hurt. I guess with the adrenaline gone all of my pain was coming in clutch.
I wasn't tied down like him but then again I didn't appear as dangerous as he did either.
"Damian? What happened?" I ask as I force myself to stand.
He makes muffled yelling sounds that we're probably insults and curses but my eyes were heavy and my heart was slow. I was tired still, despite falling asleep.
I fumble towards his bed but my wires stop me. I grab a handful of them and rip them out in a swift motion that brought only slight pain compared to what I've encountered.
I reach for Damian's gag and pull it down.
"Flash is a lousy excuse for a hero!" Damian spat out immediately and almost as if he was summoned, the door opened to Flash and a doctor.
The doctor looked surprised I was up and hurried over to me.
"You shouldn't be standing sir! You've had major force trauma, electric shock, and slight hypothermia. You should be resting!" The doctor said as he stood near me, ready to help me stand in case my knees gave out.
"Thanks but I already know that." I say. I turn to Flash. "Why is my brother tied up?"
The doctor started to usher me back to the bed and I let him just to put his mind at ease if it bothered him so much.
I sat on the bed and knew that if I fully laid down I would pass out.
"Your brother?" Flash asked. "Well your brother tried to kill me when I tried to bring him to the hospital. He wouldn't stop cursing and this is a saint's hospital so we had him gagged."
"That's because you couldn't handle the truth!" Damian snapped. "Even though I yelled it right in your face."
The doctor pushed my legs back on the bed and a heaviness laid on my head as everything in me wanted to go to sleep.
I push the doctor away from me and have to swack his hands away from trying to reconnect me to the wires. He seems frustrated and mutters something about getting more blankets before scampering out.
"By the looks of it, you two are in trouble or are the trouble. Which is it?" Flash asked after nodding to the doctor who left.
"Depends on who you're talking to." I say.
Flash frowned. "I'm asking you. Who are you guys anyway?"
I roll onto my pillow, my mind drifting off into the fluffiness of it.
"Adopted sons of Batman." I say flately.
Damian shoots me a glare like I shouldn't have told Flash.
I shrug at him. "What? Flash already knows Batman's identity. What does it matter at this point?"
It sounded like I was high on night air but I couldn't stop. I felt drunkenly tired.
