Chapter 7

"Is everything okay?" Thomas asks as Ellie and Julia enter the room again.

"Everything's fine," Ellie answers.

"Julia?"

"It's true. I'll have to keep an eye on her though. This whole situation isn't good for her."

"I know," Thomas replies, "I can't exactly undo this."

"Oh, I know, just make sure she doesn't stress too much. It's not good for her or the baby."

"I know, I will."

"Good, I'll be back later to check on her and Kara. Text me if it's Ellie and use the..."
"Help button if it's Kara?"

"Yes." Julia glances at Ellie. "You tell Thomas if the cramping gets really bad, okay? Or if anything else is hurting you."

"Okay," Ellie whispers, "I will."
Julia leaves the room and Thomas sits down beside Ellie. "Are you feeling better?" he asks.

She shrugs. "I'm still cramping, not as bad though."

"Do you need anything?"

"No, not right now."

Julia suddenly appears at the doorway again. "Thomas?" she sharply says.

"Yes?" he answers, confused.

"Make sure she eats."

"Um, Ellie? Of course, I will." Julia leaves again and Thomas glares at his sister. "Ellie?" he says firmly.

"Yeah?" she whispers.

"Have you eaten at all?"

"Um no?

"Have you drunk any water?"

"Um no?"

"I'll be right back. I'm going to get you some food." He stands up and leaves the room.

Ellie remains on the couch for several more minutes before standing up and walking over to Kara. "Hi Kara," she whispers, "you're going to wake up. I don't know when, but you will. You can't leave Scarlett and Alina and Kaleb. You can't leave...me ..."

After ten minutes pass, Thomas returns with some food. "Here," he says as he hands it to her, "Eat." She takes the food and slowly starts to eat. Tears start to stream down her face as she eats. "Ellie," Thomas whispers, "don't cry." He takes a tissue and gently wipes the tears away. "Kara's strong, She won't leave us. She promised she wouldn't."

"I know, I'm just scared."

"I know, but it'll be okay."
