When You Were Here

The Wedding

I am so nervous, I have been preparing mysely for this day for two weeks. I hear the music and dad guides me through the doors and down the isle. Derek looks so handsom in his suit and bow tie. Once I am to him I hand my flowers to Tracey and face Derek.

Derek says his vows and then its my turn. "When we first met in high school I knew you were special. When you first met my mom she told me to not let you go and she told me I would marry you some day and she was right. I love you, I love every single part of you. I will be there for you through good times and bad. I will help you when you need help." I say not taking my eyes from his. We exchange rings and walk down the isle as husband and wife.

At the reception we talk with guests and we have the first dance. Our song is Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion. The dance is perfect, it so great.

For our honeymoon, we are going to a resort in Hawaii. I change into a pastel pink sundress and we drive to the airport. Once on the plane I fall asleep. Derek wakes me up when we get there. We find our suitcases and wait for the rental car. It's so beautiful here.

Once the rental car comes we put everything in the trunk. Derek knows the way to the resort so he drives. "Hey we are going to have fun okay, just you and me not thinking of anything except this wonderful honeymoon," Derek tells me. "Okay," I say taking his hand.

Once we get to the resort someone takes our luggage while someone parks the car. A really nice girl shows us to our suite. It has a nice sized bathroom and a small dinning- kitchen area and the bedroom is beautiful. The view is of the beach and in the living room area there is a sun room.

We head down to the beach after we change into bathing suits. The water is so nice and I love the smell of the ocean. We splash each other and he chases me. I do have a good headstart but he catches up to me. "Hey!" I squeal in suprise. "I got you," he whispers in my ear. We hang out in the water for a little bit longer before we leave to get ready for dinner.

I get dressed in a nice red dress and Derek has a suit with a red tie that matches my dress. We go to the restaurant downstairs and sit at a table in the back. We both order the Hawiian chicken and a glass of sparkling apple juice. "Mrs.Reed how's the meal?" Derek asks. "Well my handsom husband it is quite well," I say giggling.

We relax when we get back to the room. "Goodnight babe, I love you," I say before falling asleep. I barely hear his reply.

The first week goes by fast and we have a lot of fun. We did water activities and other stuff. Derek made me try new food and I showed him a lot of cool stuff. Today we were going on a trail through some cool sites.

We were just about to leave when Derek got a call. "Hello," he says. "Yes, alright I will be ready," he says hanging up. Derek walks into the bedroom and I follow close behind him. "What was that?" I ask as he starts packing. "They are sending me out again," he says.sadly. I stand there as tears stream down my face.

Derek hugs me and comforts me. We bring the luggage down and drive to the airport. The plane starts boarding and I sit next to Derek next to the window. "Allison I will be fine because I have a wife who is going to be waiting," Derek says. "I will be waiting," I say.

The plane lands and we drive to his parents house where my parents are as well. They do not know we are here. Derek walks in with me right behind him. "Hi," we say. Our moms scream in suprise and they hug us both. "I need to tell you something," Derek says to our parents.

"I am being deployed again," he says. His mom starts crying so I walk over and hug her. "When do you leave?" My dad asks. "In an hour and a half," he says. Our moms prepare a dinner of baked chicken and vegetables and mashed potatos with a cake for dessert.
