Mingyu stepped out of the room, wearing a clear expression of letdown after Jungkook's decision. He walked over to Wonwoo, who was hanging around outside."Jealous?" Wonwoo teased, a playful laugh escaping his lips.
Mingyu just gave Wonwoo the silent treatment, his face all blank, and kept on walking.
"Hey, hold up. Can we just talk?"
Mingyu halted, and they both moved towards the lawn, settling on a bench.
"That night..."
Mingyu cut in, "Hold on. Let's not get into that. You were drunk.........We'll pretend it never happened, alright?"
"Ummm...pretend that never happened...It's always easy for you, it's your superpower, right? Pretending - pretending you're clueless about me loving you, to put on a show in front of hyung like you're not into him, pretending you don't know I took off to the US not because I was dying to study there, but to shake off these feelings for you..."
Mingyu glanced at Wonwoo, his expression a mix of confusion and surprise.
Wonwoo went on, "But I couldn't. I tried dating, hookups, but it just didn't work. You kept popping up in my mind every time I was with someone else."
"Wonwoo, I...."
Wonwoo seized Mingyu's hands, intertwining their fingers in a tight, desperate grip. "Wait, I know what you're going to say...But can you give me a chance? I know I'm nothing like my hyung, and I'll never be, but I can care for you. I'll never stop loving you...all I ask is for a chance, a chance to love you... don't I deserve that?"
Mingyu gently pulled back, his hands slowly slipping away. "Wonwoo... I'm grateful for your love, and it means a lot that you care so much. But I've got to be real with you- I can't see you the way you see me. It's not about you; it's just how I feel. I need you to understand that I can't reciprocate those feelings. It's not about deserving or not; it's about what feels right for both of us. I hope you understand."
Wonwoo lowered his head, remaining still for a while to absorb the rejection. When he finally looked up, a sad smile played on his lips, "Alright, got it."
After a brief silence, Wonwoo added, "But, could you do me a favor?"
"Favor?"
"Yeah... Stop running away from me. I'm not asking you to love me or anything, just give me a chance to stay close. Think of it as a favor for someone who doesn't have any friends... or anyone to share late-night talks and bad jokes with."
Mingyu flashed a small smile.
"What's this? First time catching you with a grin, Is that a yes?"
"I guess."
"Wow, cool... Actually, I was thinking of catching a movie tomorrow. But, there's no one with me to go, feeling all lonely, and you know, I don't want to be lonely. Wanna join me?"
"So I just loosen up a bit, and you're already taking advantage?" Mingyu said, trying hard to hide his smile. "Yeah, sure, I'm already on a break. A movie sounds good."
"Seriously?" Wonwoo's face lit up with a huge smile.
"Are you that happy?"
"Yes, you can't imagine how thrilled I am."
Wonwoo smiled brightly, his eyes slowly found Mingyu's, and beneath the bright moonlight, smiles quietly danced across their faces....
