I opened my eyes and immediately felt pain and heard horrible screeching noises of... People? I tried to shift my body to a sitting position, but every part of me felt like 10,000 fire ants were on me, biting me nonstop. I was in a room? It was dark, not too dark though there was a faint light at the top of the circular ceiling "Ouch," I mumbled aloud, "My head." Reaching my hand to my forehead and bringing it back down, I saw a liquid glistening on 3 my fingers. Blood. If I wasn't scared then I was definitely scared now.
After a long silence over the dimly lighted room, a loud thud was heard before the round platform began to move upwards. I was pushed slightly by the force of the wind traveling so fast, and by the uproar of people hitting the floor or falling backward, I'm guessing the other individuals did too. Sometime later when people stopped trying to bang on the walls or scream for help I started thinking, Where was I? Who was I? And most importantly How in the world did I get here!?
My head hurt Just like the rest of my body. I tightened my eyes more trying to remember a fragment of any memory I've ever had, but... Nothing. My brain was a whole pile of nothing! Why can't I remember! THIS IS SO STUPID! I whisper yelled although that last part I said aloud. Someone shuffled close to me, and I could make out some of his features though the lighting was faint. Dark blond hair kept nicely just past his ears, and it looks to be... Hazel eyes? Maybe a couple of freckles on his light skin. Looking at him made me realize I had no idea what I looked like.
"Hey I have a question," the stranger verbalized "Do you... Remember anything about yourself?" I sat and thought momentarily, trying to ask myself the same questions. Where was I? Who was I? And How did I get here? But alas there was nothing in my big empty brain. I wish I could tell this random dude at least one little detail but I couldn't. "Sorry man I...." I stopped mid-sentence "What is it, please tell me it's something to help us get out of this strange place, " The stranger pleaded. "No, not something to help us but I remember. My name, " I added. "...Well, what is it?" The boy questioned.
"Dylan, " I stated "I've asked a couple of people around the room if they remember anything and they also said the only thing they know is their name," He mentioned. "So what's your name then? " I quizzed "Rowan, " He answered. "That's kinda weird... " I remarked. "What is my name? " Rowan commented. "No, " I answered quickly. "It's weird that we only know our names, like I know my name is Dylan.. but it's like I don't have any connection with that name, somehow I know it's mine, " "Yeah, that's how I feel too, " Rowan stated.
We sat in silence for a couple more minutes which felt like hours of waiting hoping something would happen to cure all this boredom until something did happen. The elevatorish room came to a stop, and there was a very very loud alarm. Scaring some people, and waking others up. The circular room had finally come to a stop. People were begging for the doors to open, but not me i had a bad feeling about this.
Seconds after people bunched up to the rusted metal doors, (which grossed me out) the doors shifted open. Everyone walked out of the elevator they'd been stuck in for hours including me. The place looked off it was yet another circular room but this time with an endless hole in the middle of the room leading down to nothing. The room was mostly grey and people were again trying to find exits but like last time, there were none. Time passed and the lights that went around the wall started to move. "Great another elevator," I thought rolling my eyes. Then I sat down and waited for nothing in particular.
This time the ride was short, we got to our destination but now we were moving up to a large mansion-looking part of the huge building. 2 staircases went up right, up left, then up right again leading to 3 different stories the top had 6 bedrooms of colors of the rainbow. One red themed with lights and the bed, one orange, one yellow, etc. The middle floor had 6 more bedrooms all different colors of the rainbow but lighter, like lighter blue, lighter purple, and more. Finally, the first floor was a large platform with a hole cut in it leading to water and a lower place to get around but I wouldn't count it a story of the house. In the middle, there were also 2 floors sticking out that people could walk on leading to a circle platform in the very middle of the large room. Like many, I wondered what it was for just like the rest of the place.
"LISTEN UP! " somebody shouted. Which scared me, no one had talked since we got off the second elevator. I turned my direction To a man covering his face and a whole collection of men with guns behind him. "welcome to the Sacrifice Sanctuary everyone, this is a place where you will eat, sleep, and most importantly, compete" The man said aloud. I could tell many people were confused by this guy he was acting nice but his tone sounded forced. "Should I ask why we are here, or how we got here?" I thought to myself, but before I could go through with it someone spoke, a boy with Black hair, bright green eyes, and tan light skin spoke. "Yeah whatever, can you just tell us why the heck we are-" "I'm sorry I didn't Call on you to raise your hand, " the man said in an intimidating tone.
The other boy standing in the crowd scoffed and then raised his hand carelessly. "Yes, you what is your name? " the man questioned. "Luke, " the boy said coldly "Ah yes, Lucas you may speak, " "Why the hell are we in this place and who in the world are you? " Luke responded. "Good question I am the keeper of the Sacrifice Sanctuary you can call me keeper or just Mr. K, and you are here because you've been chosen to participate in a series of games that yours truly came up with, did that answer your question? " Mr. K remarked.
I heard Luke scoff in the crowd, then another boy raised his hand to speak. "You, thank you for raising your hand what is your name? " Mr K asked. The curly brown hair kid with cubby pale skin looked nervous and he widened his brown eyes. "Charles or um actually just Charlie but I have a question, " he uttered, "Why can't we remember anything? " Mr. K walked closer to the crowd of people and told a couple of girls and boys to move out of the way so he could face Charlie. "Charlie, that is a question, " he leaned in closer "That I will not answer, " he backed up, "and none of you will ask that or speak of this do called 'memory loss' got it" Mr. K demanded. "Yes Mr. K uh sorry.., " Charlie spoke quietly.
"OKAY EVERYONE WE ARE DONE HERE men you can bring everyone to their designated room, " Mr. K acknowledged, and with that, all the other boys and girls got assigned 2 guys with guns to escort us to our rooms.
