Orin paced back and forth in his room he had been restless all day and now that Galen had returned with Melissa it was even worse. He had been trying to convince the spirit to change her mind right up to the point Melissa crossed over into the realm but she was set in the decision so he had no choice but to go ahead with the plans on wooing her.

A dreadful thing to dwell too long about Orin had no desire for a wife he hated seeing his parents' relationship and knew he didn't want that for himself he wanted to try to find love, someone who loved him for him and didn't just use him for his title, something he was sure he would never find.

He had to press on and arrange a way to meet her that wasn't incredibly creepy. He obviously could not go to Galen about this it was bad enough the future queen was his daughter it would be completely inappropriate to ask him to help the only place he could go was his mother something he usually wanted to avoid because of how overzealous she could get especially about him dating and trying to find a queen

He went to his wardrobe, pulled out his calling mirror, and called his mother. It took no time for her to answer. With little else to do she spent most of her days lounging in her sitting room."My darling son what a surprise!" she was as regal looking as ever

"Hello, Mother" his postre stiff and awkward.

"Is there any particular reason you called or did you just want to see your beautiful mother?" "Well about that Mother it seems the spirit got tired of waiting for me to pick a wife and decided to pick one for me" his mother laughed happily

"Oh darling that's wonderful news who is the lucky fae"

'Well that's part of the reason I'm calling It's Galen's daughter"

"That half-breed he sired how many years ago" She was taken back it had not been done in the entirety of recorded history a half-fae becoming queen high ranking nobility perhaps but queen was unheard of.

"Yes I need your help in how to woo her do you have any ideas?"

"Oh, son you don't need my help in that department you are a king you just overthink things throw her a ball, and make her feel like the most important woman in the room and she will be yours in no time" With that his mother hung up on him.

"Okay a ball now that i can do" he muttered to himself as he sat his mirror down and went off to find Galen

"Galen I have the most amazing idea" he burst into Galens room where he was sitting at his desk reading a book

"Ideas from your mother don't count as your ideas but Ok let's hear it" They had been friends long enough the attitude was not only tolerated but appreciated.

"I will be throwing a ball in honor of your daughter's introduction to fairy society"

"And when are you planning on having this ball, sir"

"In two weeks"

"Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I wanted to plan one for her anyway. It will be a good introduction to society for her. ill start preparations for a ball gown sir"

"I'll need everyone on deck to get things ready and send out invitations"

"That will be no problem"

"Are you sure you are ok with this" Galen sighed at sat the book he was reading on the table.

"Orin ive known you since we were children so I feel no need to be anything but honest with you, no. I'm not ok with this but you know as well as I do that once the spirit has made up her mind It's either go along with it or be thrown off the throne" Orin joined his friend sitting down

"You can abide by how we do things while still being upset about it"

"I just wish she picked anyone but my daughter she has no experience with fairie courts she can't do magic she has never been involved in our way of life at all how would she make a good queen"

"If it makes things easier for you I wish she would not have picked your daughter as well im sure she's a lovely woman but I'm not sure if a halfling raised in the human world was the best pick for my wife" Galen cracked a smile

"At least we can agree on that but we must do what we must no matter my personal feelings on the matter"

"Thank you for understanding"

Orin's constant seeking for reassurance was weighing on Galen. wishing to just be done with hearing about his pursuit of Missy.
