In Murder, She Wrote.

Confrontation // Chapter 7

      I literally sat in the living room waiting on Paulina to walk through that door. This was all too surreal, & I needed conformation for myself  that this was real life, that this was actually happening. It's been about 4 hours now, & my sister still hadn't come home yet. I was on the verge on finding her my damn self when I heard keys in the lock.

        Click, click

       I snatched up the note, prepared for the hell that was about to go down in this house. Tapping my foot, I glared at Paulina as she stepped inside, taken aback by me standing there. 

       "Well hey, Wynt-".

       I whipped out the note, cutting her off. "What the hell is this, huh?"

       Paulina stood there, frozen in shock. "Wynter..."

      "What is it!", I yelled. 

      "A note from Kevin...".

      Staring at her disgusted I threw the note on the floor & stomped on it. "I want the truth, & nothing but the truth. No bullshit. Right now".

      Paulina glanced at the floor, avoiding eye contact with me at all costs. She rocked back & forth on her heels as a single tear slipped down her cheek. I sure didn't give a damn about that. There was no sympathy for what she has done. 

     "Get to talking!", I snapped. 

      With a sigh, Paulina began her story. "The first romantic encounter between us was when you was at school that day, & he came over not knowing you had class. He didn't want to make his trip a waste of time, so he said he'd just spend time with me until you got home. We were just sitting around, watching movies, nothing special. That's when he started to rub his hands up & down my thigh, & I pushed him away the first time. The next time he kissed me, & his kiss was just so passionate, I just couldn't pull away. That's when our friendship turned into something more.

The next time was when you went out to Universal with Valentina. He purposely told you he didn't want to hang out with you that day so that he could spend time with me. All day while you was out with your best friend, we were in the house together. You came home earlier than expected, that's why when you walked through the door, we both were so shocked because Kevin was supposed to be gone by the time you arrived. 

The third time.. when you left to go to the beach with Valentina.. we had sex. That was our first time, & ever since then, every time we met up, we'd just have sex. We had this affair going on behind your back for about 9 months. Both of us would just send love letters to each, buy each other gifts, & meet up when we could. Well, I ended up getting pregnant & Kevin stopped talking to me for about a week. That's when he told me the only way we could continue to work out is if I aborted the baby.

So that's exactly what I did. After that incident, he told me he was in love with me. Kevin was about to break up with you to get with me. But before any of that could happen, he got caught up in his gang lifestyle that he was going to drop so that we could be together. Now I know you think you saw what you saw that day when you think they shot Kevin but it's not the truth. Your eyes deceived you".

     I stared up at Paulina, teary-eyed. "What are you talking about?"

    She heaved a huge sigh before speaking. Looking me directly in the eyes, she said, "Kevin is actually alive".
