*PROLOUGE* (FLASHBACK)
"Tell me where the money is right now Kevin!"
A sickening crack filled the air followed by a horrendous scream. I closed my eyes & grinded my teeth. As much as I loved seeing people in pain, seeing my own beloved boyfriend in this gruesome torture made my blood absolutely crawl. I slowly opened one eye to see what was happening. His arm was broken, bent in a inhuman way. Tears clouded my vision as I quickly repelled my attention away from the scene. I was tied up to a chair, unable to help my boyfriend from this fucked up situation.
Click, clack.
I snapped my neck around to see the man that broke Kevin's arm holding a gun, while another guy walked into the dark room.
"Well, well, Wynter What are you going to do now? Where's the bad girl act you've been putting on for the last few years? Huh?", a familiar boy said, looking dead into my eyes. I remembered him. He was one of the guys I robbed a few months ago. Wiliam was his name. I tried to look away from his intense stare but he slapped me, forcing me to look at him again.
"YOU FUCKING BETRAYED US WYNTER. YOU FUCKING BETRAYED US! AND ALL FOR THIS BITCH MADE FOOL!", William turned to the man with the pistol & gave him a signal. The man immediately aimed his gun at Kevin's head, pressing the trigger. Kevin's body dropped to the floor with a thud.
"NO! KEVIN!", I screamed at the top of my lungs, trying to free myself from the tightly tied ropes on my hands & legs. "NO!".
William's demonic laughter was the only thing heard, as I horrifyingly stared at Kevin's body, bleeding furiously.
My boyfriend was officially dead.
(END OF FLASHBACK)
I shot up in my bed, covered in sweat. Ever since my boyfriend's death, I've been having nightmares. It's been 2 years since his death, but I still think about him everyday, & how it was my fault.
If only I hadn't joined that stupid gang when I was 17.
I turned on my side as my eyes focused on my alarm clock. 8:12 AM.
Holy shit, I was going to be late. I was in my sophomore year at college, & I still had my occasional sleeping in moments here & there.
I quickly brushed my teeth, took a shower, & got dressed. Skinny jeans, a black crop top that reached right above my belly button, showing the bully button piercing I got last month, & some black Adidas. I grabbed my phone & my school bag as I headed to my car.
*******
Wynter's the name. Wynter Makaiw'i to be exact. 19 years old & born in Hawaii, I was raised there 'til around the age of 9, then my family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After the incident with Kevin, I moved here to Palm Beach, Florida with my 26 year old sister, Paulina.
I'm going to college here. I put my old life behind, promising myself I would never go back, no matter what.
It was after 3 o'clock when I returned home. As soon as I stepped foot into the house, my cell started ringing. I reached in my back left pocket & pressed answer without even looking at the caller I.D.
"Hello", I said, making my way to the kitchen to make something to eat.
"Wynter!", a Mexican accent said into the phone. I immediately knew it was my best friend Valentina.
"Hey boo!", I replied, scanning the fridge.
Valentina giggled & sighed. "I'm bored. Can we hang out tonight at your place? Maybe watch a little movies, pop some poppycorn".
"Sure, under one condition".
"What is it?"
"That you never again in your life say 'poppycorn'", I laughed as Val sucked her teeth.
"Girl you know you like my word. Anyways, I'll be there in, eh, 30 minutes".
I smiled. "Alright, see you in a few".
I hung up, & went upstairs, getting ready for Valentina.
(A/N) Ayeee, first chapter! You'll soon be informed of what happened in Wynter's past, why they killed her boyfriend, & what gang she was apart of.
