I walk out of the airport instantly welcomed by the warm Australian weather for the first time in almost a year. Wow, it's been a year. It's been a year since we left for the US. It's been a year since I started chasing after my dreams. And it's been a year since I left her behind.

"Who's ready to see their momma!" Michael exclaimed as he climbed into the van that will bring us home. Yes, home. How fun.

"Luke, there's something in the mail for you," a sweaty Calum who just got home from the gym said as he entered the house.

"M'kay, just place it in the kitchen table," I said as I descend from the stairs ready to eat my breakfast.

I opened the fridge, poured milk on my cereal and proceeded to the table to see the 'package' for me.

From: Abigail Roth

Sydney, NSW, Australia

I was shocked, to say the least, when I read the name of the sender. I mean, it's been 9 months since I left Australia, why would my ex-girlfriend send me a package? And how did she know where I'm staying in LA?

I opened the package, nonetheless, and found a sealed envelope with a small note.

'Luke,

Before you open this, just know that I am extremely sorry and I now know that what I did was very  selfish of me. I know I ruined a lot of things and possibilities for you and her by keeping this a secret from you and the guilt was starting to eat me up. I'm really sorry I let my selfishness get the best of me. My apology won't fix anything and I just hope you'll find it in you to forgive me someday.

-Abbie x'

Now, I'm even more confused. What is she talking about? I thought we ended things on a good note so why is she saying sorry and who the hell is she talking about? Behind my confusion, I am even more worried to open the envelope. If the content of this envelope is somewhat related to my life back in Australia then I don't know if I could be ready enough for this.

'Stop acting like a baby, Luke,' a voice at the back of my mind says. Fuck, even in my mind she still has that kind of power over me.

I took a deep breath then finally found it in me to open the envelope.

There, inside, is another letter addressed to me written in a very neat penmanship I've known so well since I was a child

"But, mom, our teacher was being unfair! I stayed up all night to make that poem and she just gave me one star while she gave Dani three!" I whined as my best friend smirked beside me.

"It's not my fault you have a messy handwriting, Lucas!" she stuck out her tongue.

"Quit fighting, kids. Now, both of you show me your papers and I'll tell whether or not your teacher was right," my mom said, taking a seat beside us in the dinner table.

We both handed her our papers as she reads both of our works. When she finished reading she gave us a smile.

"Luke, I may have to talk to your teacher," she seriously said and I instantly smirked towards Dani. "Are you sure she just gave you one star?" she asked and I nodded. "Because you're lucky enough to get one," she laughed as I hear Dani laugh with her.
