I walk around the cavern as I feel my power grow. The cavern is nothing special, just a big open space with a few platform like rock settings. It isn't anything impressive in my opinion. A cave is a cave like any other. I don't see how this one is any more special than any other cave.
I already did the ritual to make myself the avatar for the island's magic. It will grant me eternal life just like I want, and all that is left to do is wait for the process to finish. I pass the time by wandering about the cavern and looking at everything inside. There really isn't much to see here. I am starting to get bored if I am being honest. WIth nothing to do and not much of a view, it's really no surprise that I am starting to get bored. I really need to find something to occupy my time. So instead I decide to focus on the effects of this ritual that is giving me everything I have worked so hard for.
The growing magic in my veins sizzle with power. The feeling getting stronger by the second. I feel my strength growing and my energy multiplying. I feel so strong I doubt anything could stop me. And this feeling of power and strength is only growing with every passing minute. I even feel like I could fly. Even without the help of pixie dust. The thought is intriguing. Very enticing. Perhaps I should give it a try? Or maybe I should wait until I have all the power. Flying would certainly be an exciting way to pass the time. Much more exciting than what I'm doing now, which is nothing.
I'm considering actually trying it when I hear someone enter the cavern. Lucky for me even the slightest sound echoes in here. Making it impossible for anyone to attempt to take me by surprise. At least there is one good thing about this place. I look to the source of the sound and am not surprised to find the pirate captain. Hook, or rather Vitoria, is dressed in her usual coat and hat, her blade hanging off of her hip and her silly little hook on her belt.
I decide to break the silence first. My confidence rising with the power inside me. "I knew you'd show up eventually. I just didn't expect you this soon." My tone matches my growing confidence, which only pleases me more. Clearly this power doesn't just make me stronger, but it amplifies my confidence as well. At least that's what I am going to believe.
The fuming pirate looks up at where I am on my platform. "It's time we end this Darling!" She declares. I can see the rage boiling up to the surface when she looks at me. It's satisfying to see. The usually perfectly controlled pirate captain struggling to maintain control of her emotions, even if it is just for a few fleeting seconds. It is still a sight to see. A tiny amount of pride worms its way into my chest. I managed to crack the uncrackable pirate captain. That is an achievement.
A smirk makes its way onto my face and I slowly make my way over to her. A new confidence and bounce in my steps. "I agree. Though I don't know how you plan on beating me now. I'm gaining the magic of the island. Growing stronger with every second. You don't have a chance."
Hook doesn't even blink. She draws her sword and continues her own slow march towards me. "Power doesn't guarantee your victory. I've fought magical beings before and won. Don't consider yourself special." Considering she has been on Neverland for decades, I don't doubt that she has fought magical beings. But I'm not sure if I buy that she's actually won against them. That just seems a little too far fetched.
I raise an eyebrow. "I doubt you've met one like me." Maybe it's the power filling my veins. Maybe it is making me act and talk with a confidence I haven't felt in years. Or ever. Maybe I am getting a little drunk on this power. Not that it matters. I believe my words. I doubt she stands even the slightest chance.
Hook narrows her eyes and she points her drawn blade at me in challenge. "Enough taunting. Let's get started." Does she really have to take the fun out of this so early? Oh well, since she seems intent on acting like she's in charge, her wish is my command.
I look at her from top to bottom, carefully taking in her appearance. My eyes settle on her cutlass that is still pointing challengingly at me. Now there's an idea. Why don't I test these new powers I have and see what they can do to help me? I wonder. The stories said that Peter had the ability to create whatever he could imagine. Perhaps I can attempt to do the same. It shouldn't be that hard. Especially with all this new power at my disposal.
I look down at my dominant hand and imagine I am holding a blade of my own. Before my eyes a long and sturdy blade with an intricate handle appears in my hand. I swing it experimentally to test its weight. And possibly to try to show off. I hold it out towards her, my way of accepting her challenge.
"What are you waiting for, Pirate? An invitation?" I mock. I get into a ready stance and she follows my lead. I get flashbacks to that time that we dueled on the deck of her ship. That time did not end well for me. But this time is different. This time I have power on my side. This time she won't get in my head. This time I will win.
The pirate captain doesn't look amused. If anything she looks even more determined. Which is sad, really. She doesn't stand a chance. But it will be fun to watch her try. And it will give me some entertainment while I wait for this to finish.
