Chapter 9

Yumi unbuckled her seatbelt, slinging her clutch, and got out of Heo Joon Jae's car when he was still on his phone. She managed to do that in a very quick and effective movement.

Yumi then walked to the bank of the main road and was waving her hand to get a taxi. As soon as a taxi stopped for her, she grabbed the door and got in.

"Get quick, please!" She told the driver. She just wanted to leave as soon as possible, afraid Heo Joon Jae would catch her.

Yumi kept glancing behind several times to make sure Heo Joon Jae didn't catch her.

Few minutes later when she was sure he didn't follow, Yumi leaned herself to the seat and inhaled. He might have had to go to the hospital. Her eyes teared again and she pressed her own chest, it hurt somehow.

On the outside, the autumn night sky started dripping as well.

****

It was still drizzling when the taxi stopped in front of her clinic building. Yumi didn't have an umbrella with her but she didn't care, that was just a mild drizzling though. She just got out of the taxi and let the drizzle pour to her when she jogged to the building.

Yumi was standing in front of her clinic's door but she didn't feel like going in. Instinctively she turned around and then walked to the stairs and went up. She would like to go to the rooftop.

***

Few levels before she reached the peak of the stairs, Yumi could hear the sound of someone punching something up there, the sand sack. Her heart was beating faster, It couldn't be him. Yumi quickened her step climbing the stairs.

Her step stopped at the peak of the stairs. It was him. Go Hansu was there, standing with his back facing her direction and punching the sand sack in the drizzling night. She froze, couldn't move her feet to make any step further. Something in her heart made her tremble and tears fell down her face.

Go Hansu stopped his movement as he heard someone was sobbing near there. He turned himself in and found Kim Yumi was there, standing at the peak of the stairs.

"Yumi..." he made wide steps as he loosened the band on his hands and reached her after just a few steps.

"Yumi, what's going on?" Go Hansu reached and squished her upper arms, he clearly noticed she was crying and shaken and couldn't say anything. He immediately wrapped her in his own arms, then led her to get in the rooftop house.

Hansu led Yumi to the bed inside the house and sat her down there. He left her and grabbed a towel and blanket before coming back to dry her damp hair and wrapped her body with a blanket. He was about to stand up and move again but she caught his hand.

"Stay here," she whispered, her voice sounded so weak and trembled.

Go Hansu looked at her eyes that were red and teary, her face was red as well. He wrapped her with his arms and caressed her back, "I'm her."

She gave in and let herself curl into his embrace. She closed her eyes as she let a tear drop for the last. His t-shirt was wet and cold but his embrace felt so warm and his gentle caress on her back soothing her. She wanted to talk a lot to him and asked where he had been all this time, but she felt drained and tired and his soothing caress made her sleepy.

Few minutes later, Go Hansu felt her constant breathing and her weight was completely on him. He looked down at her face, her eyes closed. He then laid her down, carefully set her so she could sleep comfortably on the bed and he adjusted the blanket to cover her body properly.
