Jeon Jungkook

Jungkook sat at the lawyer's office waiting for his name to be called by the receptionist.

He didn't have an appointment but a simple call to the lawyer had given him access admittedly not without a waiting period.

Jungkook came here directly after school like his father had instructed with the bag in hand.

The lawyer is a tall slender white man with a thick head of sandy hair and an expensive looking three piece suit.
He came out to greet jungkook with a shark like smile before ushering him into his office.

His office is minimalist in the Chic expensive way jungkook had seen in movies.

He's ushered to a seat by a ringed hand.

Once seated jungkook attempts to put his back pack on the desk but the lawyer stops him telling him to put his bag on the seat beside him.

He asks jungkook simple questions about himself and why he's come to visit.

Jungkook answers suddenly getting the cue to keep the conversation easy and vague.

For the sake of appearance, jungkook was just looking into hiring a lawyer for his father. When jungkook leaves, he leaves without the bag in hand.

But before he could make it out the door, the lawyers assistant called him back in.

Jungkook is handed his back pack back but the bag is significantly lighter than how he'd left it.

The lawyer said he'd contact him in a day or two if he thinks he can take on the case.

On his way home, jungkook feels a weight growing in his stomach. He doesn't know what it is but the weight seems to want to paralyze him.

He doesn't want to think that the weight is regret because he did the right thing.

His father is a violent man sure, he reasons but he's not a murderer.
If there's a chance that he's being punished for a crime he didn't commit then jungkook had to do everything he could to get him out.

Justice was justice, he reasons. After all, if his father is in prison for a crime he didn't commit, that means the real murder got away scot free.

The thought quells the growing regret and allows the weight to diminish but not disappear.

When jungkook steps out of his car, his knees almost buckled, he steadies himself with a heavy arm to the roof of his car.

He takes in a deep breath; and then another.

Jungkook returns to an empty house which is odd because his mother's car is parked outside.
He calls his mother and on the third ring his mother picks up.

Jungkook doesn't hear anything on the other side so his heart rate picks up.
"Mom?" He calls out.

"Here, it's your son." A masculine voice says quietly before the phone jostles causing loud noises as it's passed.

"Jungkook, hi." His mom sounds breathless but content.

He hates the thought that flashes in his head of his mother messing around with anyone.

"Where are you?"

"I'm hanging out with a friend. There are groceries in the fridge so you can sort yourself out. I'll be home at 7."  His mother's usual straightforward tone is back.

Jungkook ignores all that.

"Is something wrong with your car?" Jungkook asks before a loud playful yelp followed by laughter comes from his mother on the other side of the phone.
