myriad of moonlight shone down upon my body while I rested in the glowing rays.

It was cold with the window open.

It felt like a long time had passed when Lucius entered the room and sat down beside me.

"By the stars your cheeks are flushed. Are you warm enough?" He asked.

Lucius did not hesitate to take off his scarf. He wrapped it gently around my neck and tied it in place.

"Thank you, my sunshine."

He sighed quietly and left.

I ended up spending the rest of the night in the moonlight room before I was released to go home.

On the way out, I quite literally ran into Wesley who was on his way to work in the tavern.

I stumbled and nearly fell backwards, but Wesley clumsily caught me with an arm around my waist.

I looked up into his face, my eyes wide. My body was passed up against his and I could feel the warmth of his foggy breath intermingled with my own.

"You should be careful," he scolded before blushing when he realized our positions. He helped me gain my balance and ran his hands down his clothes to straighten them. "My apologies. I should have been more careful as well. "

"I'm sorry." I mumbled. "I must have been lost in thought."

"Just be careful. We do not need you to be harmed by your carelessness." Wesley sighed. "Do you need me to take you home?"

I shook my head. "I'll be fine."

Wesley's expression fell at my words and his brow knit together with concern.

I bit my lip. I didn't want to pass my burdens onto Wesley. He had enough on his plate as it was.

Instead, I took him by the hand and led him inside the tavern.

He settled into his usual routine once we were inside. I gave him a long moment to relax and was soon nose deep into his work.

I watched him for a long time. I could hear whispering from other elves about Wesley. He'd turned a new leaf and had worked hard to change his reputation with the people of the village for the better.

I single handedly ruined all that work.

I carefully made my way to the karaoke stage and picked up the mic.

"Hello everyone." I said sheepishly. "You all know me already, Light the farmer... well today I'd like to dispel some of the rumors going around."

The room went silent and even Wesley was staring at me. I cleared my throat but before I could continue, I felt a hand on my shoulder.

It was the Nel'vari Elder Gorwin, and he wore a pained expression as he took the mic from me.

"Light owes no one an explanation." He announced and led me up the wind tunnel to his office.

He took a seat at his desk and steeples his fingers.

"It's all my fault." I admitted. "All these rumors going around about Wesley being irresponsible. He's not-!"

"I am aware, Light," He said. "I know what has occurred and the part that Wesley plays in it. The part that each of them plays in it for that matter."

I could feel my face grow hot. Just how much did he know?

"I... just don't know what to do anymore," I admitted. "I feel like my reluctance to act has left me with slowly losing all the people I care for most. How do I even go forward from this?"

"The only one that can decide that," he said, " is you."

I gave him a deadpan expression. That was literally the worst advice I'd ever received.

Almost as though he had read my mind, he let out a chortle.

"It may sound like no advice at all, but I assure you, that only you can forge your own path forward."

I stared down at the floor.

Maybe he was right, in fact maybe he was poetically right altogether.

But that didn't make me like his answer.

"The three of them did not sign up to co- parent with me." I said with a bitter laugh. "Each of them deserves better than I can ever hope to offer."

"Light, you bring more to the table than you realize. And I don't mean by farming. You are capable of making these elves happy simply by being yourself."

I thought about his words and turned them over in my mind while chewing on my lower lip.

It made some sense after all. I loved each of them for who they were. But it felt like I still fell short.

"You've given me a lot to think about." I admitted. "I should go."

"Before you go." He said before I stepped into the wind tunnel. "Do not make rash decisions in your current state. What is meant to be, shall be all in due time."
