"Father, when were you planning on informing me about auctioning me off to these strangers?! " I whisper-yell.

"We've discussed this a month ago. "

"I don't recall that. "

"You said, 'sure, whatever. '. And now we're here. " he smiles.

His smile instantly drops as he meets my scowl.

I scoff, walking over to the Champagne table, grabbing two glasses. Xavier carefully follows and stands next to me, not daring to say a word.

Good call.

"Can you believe this shit?! " I exclaim, downing my second glass of Champagne.

He questionably watches me drink, "Yes? " he carefully answers. "You didn't know? " he adds.

"No I didn't fucking know, Brooke! " I snap.

He winces.

"Well, im pretty sure your problem won't be solved with those Champagne glasses. "

I glare at him as I chug my third glass.

"Okay, well. I'll be over here If you need me." he steps back a bit.

"Dick." I mumble under my breath.

A man with a charming smile and long, brown hair stops infront of me. "Hello, Miss Moreman. Im Alex Dunham. "

He kisses my hand. "I was hoping to steal your first dance of the night? " he asks with a charming smile.

I fight the urge to roll my eyes at this man. I look back at Xavier, who's in typical bodyguard mode, eyeing Alex up and down.

I shoot him a look and he shrugs.

My eyes dart to Alex, who's waiting for a response.

Xavier nods acceptantly agter his examination of Alex and I smile back to Alex. "It'll be my pleasure. " I say through gritted teeth.

_

I painfully limp back to Xavier after my dance with Alex.

"Good dance? " he smirks.

"No. He fucking stepped on my toes more than dancing. "

He snorts.

"Shut up. " I scoff, taking another Champagne glass in hand, chugging it.

I sigh, "There has to be something stronger than this bullshit. "

I gaze around for any sign of something stronger to drink. My eyes land on the bar on the balcony.

"Let's go. " I smirk as Xavier spots the bar at the same time.

He hesitstes, but follows after me.

"Two whiskeys, and top them off. " I tell the bartender.

He nods, starting to work on the drinks.

"Acealia, I can't drink. Im on duty. " Xavier adds.

"They're both for me dumbass. You can order your own shit. " I smirk.

He starts, "I-"

"Two whiskeys! " the bartender interrupts him.

Xavier stoots him a glare before looking back at my smirk. "Not the hell am I allowing this. " he takes one whiskey out of my hands.

"Is this in your contract? " I ask.

"No, it's an impulse. " he replies with the same sarcastic tone.
