Chapter 1: The Beginning

Narrator's POV

A new day approaches, in a Science research facility that focuses on Biology, two scientists: Mark Trevor and Jane Collins are filling a request to start a research project on gene-splicing and the polymorphism of gene-thief ants. 

Mark Trevor's POV

Alright! All the documents are completed! We just need to decide whom would fill which role.

Jane Collins's POV

I will lead the research project, you will perform the necessary actions in the following experiments.

Mark Trevor's POV

WHAT?! Who gave you the rights to suddenly take the lead in this project?!

Jane Collins's POV

 *points at her name plate* Senior researcher, Jane Collins. It is only right for me to take the lead. Isn't it, Assistant researcher, Mark Trevor?

Mark Trevor's POV

Alright, alright! Do what you want. *scribbles on the document forum on membership roles*

Jane Collins's POV

Good! Now, I shall file these to the board of directors and experiments will NOT be performed during the time being, understand?

Mark Trevor's POV

Yes! Yes, Ma'am! Absolutely as you say! *tries to hide a mantis behind his back*

Jane Collins's POV

*extends her hand to Mark* Give it to me. 

Mark Trevor's POV

Oh, fine! Here! *hands her the mantis*

Jane Collins's POV

Now, sit tight and don't do anything. Wait, instead, go to the cafeteria and get us some lunch. I'm hungry.

Mark Trevor's POV

As you wish. *annoyed*

Narrator's POV

As Mark Trevor went on to do what he was tolled to do, Jane Collins went on to her superiors to ask for their permission on the research project.

Director 3

So, how will this research benefit man kind?

Jane Collins's POV

It would help us in contained agriculture. If we manage to succeed, we will be able to create biological pollinators for our plants, a food source for following experiments, and a natural pesticide.

Director 1

Natural pesticide?

Jane Collins's POV

The Formica Ereptors are highly territorial and if proven, battle hardened, we can prevent pests for example, the snails and caterpillars. In which in the process, would also provide food for the ants.

Director 2

Magnificent! If we manage to harness these ant's nature and train them further, we might even use them for biological warfare!

Director 4

Director, in the Geneva convention, the use of Biowarfare is prohibited among countries.

Director 5

I have to agree with that. Even though I still have bad ties with you, Director.

Can I get two cappuccinos, one ramen and peanut butter and jelly sandwich please?

Mark Trevor's POV

Here, just take it all and keep the change. *drops a hundred dollar bill*

Thank you Sir! Your order will be ready with in 5 minutes!

Mark Trevor's POV

Good! Thank you Miss! I will be waiting at table 8.

Narrator's POV

After 2 minutes has passed, Jane Collins entered the cafeteria, excited to tell her junior about the good news.

Jane Collins's POV

Now, where is he? Ah! There he is! Time to tell my dear junior the result of our brainstorming!

Mark Trevor's POV

*scrolls down on his phone* Nothing good is even showing up on the news! Ugh! Today is not my day.

Jane Collins's POV

Mark! Guess what?

They rejected our request?

Jane Collins's POV

Wait, they really accepted it? It's a miracle!

Definitely! Now, what did you order? I'm starving!

I ordered 2 cappuccinos, ramen noodles and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for me.

Okay, after lunch, acquire the specimens for our project and as well as the equipment. We have a lot of work to do!
