There was once a king who ruled a very big kingdom. He had a son, however his wife had perished in a war a while back, and therefore he was forced to rule the kingdom on his own. The problem was, that he didn't know who to give his crown to and let them become king or queen in his place, he needed some strong, smart, and respectable. They also needed to be brave and prepared to make tough decisions. The reason he was in such a rush was because there was another kingdom threatening to start a war, and he wasn't as strong as he was in his younger years, thus he was afraid that he might let his kingdom down and get everyone killed.

He couldn't give it to his son, since he wasn't cut out to become a king at all. He was selfish, arrogant, rude, and had absolutely no manners. He was smart, but he didn't put it to good use. He also was quite a charmer, and good-looking, but he could never commit to someone. He always jumped from one woman to another and showed no remorse to those heartbroken. When it came to knowing how to fight or how to wield a sword, the son lacked almost everything for it. As I said before, he was smart and perfectly capable of coming up with good techniques, he just didn't want to.

The king was becoming more and more frustrated as he got older. He tried training his son into a respectable and strong young man, but he just couldn't do it. He was always hard on him and shouted at him for the smallest things thinking it would make him tougher, but it seemed to have the opposite effect. He was confused as a result of this since his dad did the same thing with him and he turned out just fine, right? He had that doubt in his mind, but he never thought too hard about it. He was ruling a kingdom, he was king, what his father did to him was the right thing, he always said to himself.

The king sought out a suitable king one day and went into town to pick out a few promising people. He looked around and saw people selling fruits, vegetables, and others just sitting around having a chat or taking a walk, but he also saw a few mischievous ones, robbing some people of their goods, or simply picking on kids. The king decided to ignore them and focus on the main task. After a while, he chose 4 people, 2 men and 2 women.

The first person was a middle-aged man, with a stern look on his face. The second person was a younger man in his 30s who looked almost bored. The third person was a young woman who smiled nervously, and the fourth person was a slightly older woman than the other, who had a serious look on her face. The king decided to test their strength, intelligence, and bravery with 3 challenges.

In the first challenge, they each had to shoot several arrows and hit the targets, fight one soldier, then in the final phase they would have to fight several soldiers at once with both a sword and a bow and arrows.

The middle-aged man went first and started aiming for the targets. He hit 5 targets and missed 3. Then, he went on to fight the one soldier with a sword, which he struggled with mostly but still managed to do. Then it came the time to fight 5 soldiers all at once. 2 were high up, and the other 3 were on the ground. The man tried to fight them all, but he only managed to beat 2 soldiers before he surrendered. The king was disappointed but not surprised and called the next person.
