I slowly awoke from my dream. I felt a bittersweet feeling knowing it was over. A thin beam of light shined through a small window, illuminating an otherwise dark and lonely room. My room. My room didn't have any decorations or color. In fact, it didn't even have a bed. I slept on a cold stone floor, but I didn't mind it. I stretched my arms and legs till I felt a satisfying crack. It was time to start the day. My tail swayed in excitement. I washed my paws, combed my hair, and slipped on my favorite white dress. I happily bounced upstairs and poured out a cup of coffee. I made sure to mix all the right sugars and all the right creams in order to make it perfect! When the coffee was finished, I excitedly waited for my master to awake. The door creaked open, and a tired teenage boy slumped out of the room. I jumped up and said, "Good morning, master! Would you like some coffee to start your day?" He groaned and yanked the cup out of my hand, it warmed my heart knowing master has someone like me to take care of him. He sat down on his couch and began sipping his drink. I rushed over to his side and eagerly asked, "Do you like it?"
"It's fine," he said back to me.
"Well, is there anything else I can do for you?" I asked. "Yeah, get the mail." I quickly rushed to master's mailbox, and removed a white envelope labeled 'Marlboro University of Technology.' I dashed back inside and handed it to him. He tore it open and began reading it. I noticed his face change as he continued to read it. He began to grow more and more frustrated, until he slammed his fist on the table and screamed. "M-master, are you okay? Is there anything I can do to-?"
"No! Get out! Leave me alone!"
I quickly apologized and scrambled back to the basement. I curled into a ball and began crying. Master never talked to me like that before, I must've really let him down. Without his affection I have nothing. I'm worthless. But then, I heard the door open. And I heard master's voice. He said, "I've changed my mind. You can help me relieve my stress." I was overjoyed the master had forgiven me. But when I looked up, and saw his face.......something about it felt, wrong. It had frightened me. As if it weren't a real smile. Then I nervously asked, "W-what do you need, master?"
What happened next was more of a blur. I couldn't remember what happened, maybe I didn't want to. I remember feeling pain, I remember screaming. But whatever it was, it made master happy. And that's all that matters.
