She bought a house. Autumn Wood's bought a house. Of course, with the help of Rowan. She couldn't afford to buy a new house so Rowan pitched in to help. He said he would pay for the space, as long as she went off and got a job first. So she did. She went and looked around for houses, found the one she wanted, and got a job at a flower shop.

Her house was small enough to fit her. She had a little kitchen that lead to the living room, and down the hall she had one bathroom and two bedrooms. One was her room, and the other she saved for guests whenever she had company sleepover. She had spent the last few weeks working and decorating her house, Rowan pitching in whenever he could. He was sad that she wasn't his neighbor anymore, but that didn't stop him from coming over and being at her beck and call.

All weekend they had been painting the walls and eating take-out whenever it was time for a break. Rowan kept an eye on her, making sure she was eating the food he had ordered her. Sometimes she could stomach it, other times she couldn't.

All in all, Autumn was beginning to feel like her old self again. She was on both of her medications, she had a job and a wonderful house just for her. She bought herself a kitten as a furry companion. It gave her a sense of responsibility and reminded herself that she too needed the love and care she gave her kitten. Rowan came over to her house almost everyday. Whenever Autumn would struggle, he would be right there for her. She had a few close calls with self harm, but in the end Rowan managed to calm her down and stop her.

She was slowly opening up to Rowan now, giving him bits and pieces of her past while he did the same. Eventually, Autumn decided she needed to go to therapy. Even though she didn't trust her therapist completely, it was nice to have someone to talk to for an hour once every week. Her life was beginning to come together.

She still struggled immensely, some days unable to get out of bed. And when that would happen, Rowan could come over with a bunch of snacks. They would spend the whole day together, snuggled in bed and watching tv. Whenever she would have the urges, he would talk her through it. Give her distractions and coping mechanisms. Sometimes she would randomly start crying. And when she did that, Rowan would come over and embrace her in the biggest of hugs. Even though her life was getting better, she had her terrible days. But she didn't give up. She refused. She would pick herself back up, find her motivation, and continue trekking on. Some days she couldn't find a reason to push through, but she still did it. Other days she did it for Rowan. Some for her kitten, and other days for her younger self.

She was pushing through life, getting through it day-by-day. She began to feel consumed by love from Rowan. She had caught on that he had feelings for her. Autumn hadn't said anything, afraid of ruining the friendship they had. She wasn't ready for a relationship, despite the fact that her own feelings began to surface.

She felt pure, genuine love from him. He cared for her like no other. He made her laugh and smile in her darkest moments. He got her to see the good in the fucked up world when she would struggle to see the sun shining. Rowan always managed to get Autumn to have a good time. And that's what she needed. That love. The comfort. The friendship she didn't think she would ever find.

Almost a year ago, she was consumed by darkness. By depression. She wanted to kill herself. To end it all and find peace in death. She was Veiled By Darkness. But now? Now she woke up feeling refreshed. She was ready to tackle on whatever hardships life threw at her. Autumn was ready to explore, to go on adventures and enjoy life to the fullest. She was happier. She saw the sunshine even if she had a hard time finding it. She loved life more than she had previously loved it. She didn't want to kill herself anymore. And her absolute favorite thing... Seeing Rowan's face every day gave her a little extra motivation and happiness. She would feel the butterflies increasing everyday. Her life wasn't perfect. Her happiness wasn't perfect. But she felt loved. She was loving herself and her life more. She was no longer veiled by darkness, but instead, she was Veiled By Love.
