My eyes slowly flutter as the sun shines through the curtains. Another day starts in the smallest town in England. I leaped out of bed and started getting ready for the day. As I rushed out the door, I saw something in the mirror. I looked and it was me, but a totally different me. It was six am and the coffee shop that I worked at was like a ghost town. The clouds blanked the town in ominous gloom. The rain was pouring down, and I thought what my life would be like if I was the girl in the mirror. If I only knew...

When I walked through the door at the coffee shop everyone's eyes all looked at me. "What's wrong?" I replied.
"You...looked so different." Someone muttered in the room.
"What do you mean different?" I said in a frightened tone that I stormed out of the room and went straight to my car and drove home. When I finally walked in, I dropped all my bags on my apartment floor and went to my bedroom to get ready for bed. Once I put my pyjamas on, I went to the bathroom to wash my face and to take my makeup off and I saw my reflection in the mirror and that very moment changed my life forever. So that's why people at the coffee shop were freaking out.I said to myself. The reflection of myself in the mirror was something unrecognisable. That night was restless. Trying to sleep turns into staring at the ceiling all night long.
After countless attempts to fall asleep I decided to head into the kitchen to make a midnight snack. I grabbed a big bowl and scooped out a big serving of mint chocolate ice cream and sat down on the couch and flipped through channels and found something amusing to watch. It's two am and I eventually fall asleep until my phone takes me out of my slumber. An Unknown number appeared on the slightly lit screen. I answered it and it was someone whose voice I haven't heard in years.
"Isabelle, it's been so long since we last talked , how are you?"
Well, to be honest I'm not doing that well.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Yes, but in person. Do you want to meet up for lunch tomorrow?
"I would love that. Will one pm work for you?"
Yes, one pm is perfect.
"See you soon!"
We both said our goodbyes and hung up the phone.
I have both today and tomorrow off of work so that I can get the things I need to do. One of them is cleaning my apartment. Having cats requires constant cleaning, if you don't keep up well you'll be in clouds of cat hair. When I finally finished cleaning my apartment, I started decorating the house for my best friend Allie.
As I was decorating, I was just thinking how nervous I am to see her because it's been four years since we last saw each other. The questions pondered in my head all night. What would her reaction be when she sees me? Will she be totally shocked that she will faint? What would she say?
It's the next day and I just got out of bed and I'm already in a puddle of my own sweat about lunch today. It will be okay, I said to myself. I hopped in the shower to start getting ready before Allie came over. When I finally got dressed, I went downstairs and grabbed one of my favourite recipe books. I flipped through the pages and found my favourites to make, pot roast. After I put all the ingredients into my Dutch oven and put it in the oven to slowly cook all morning.
After many hours, the roast is finally finished and the apartment is full of flavour. As I was setting the table, I heard a knock on the door. My heart begins to race, and I can feel the adrenaline rush through my veins as I open the door.
