This was one of the best days of Eri's life.
She walked alongside Mirio through the festival grounds, one of her hands grasped a candy apple, the other clinging to his blazer. Colorful booths passed them by, either selling various foodstuffs or offering some kind of game to play, there was even one booth with live fish to whoever got a white ball into a water-filled bowl. But, no matter how many booths the two passed, Eri couldn't get her mind off of the pretty lady on the big stage, her singing and Eri cheering her on from the crowd. The whole performance had her light on her feet, the candy apple adding sweetness to her entire day. And while Eri was lost in thought, Mirio's blazer slipped right out of her hand.
Realizing she fell behind Mirio, Eri sprinted back to his side, careful not to drop her treat. Mirio looked down at her, grinning, "Hey Eri, you wanna check out a game? Maybe get something else to eat?" His questions went off in rapid-fire succession, like the blue-haired girl he spoke with earlier, but more earnest and less curious.
After looking down the line of rainbow-colored stands and booths, she locked on one at the end of the left row."Um, Can I... Can I play the game over there?" Eri tentatively said, pointing to a pale yellow tent.
"Of Course!" Mirio beamed and smiled wide. He led Eri straight to the tent she pointed to, picking her up and placed her on one of the stools. A girl with purple skin and pure white eyes approached them with a fanged smile.
"Hey!" she voiced with energy as she grabbed a blue bucket filled with red plastic rings, "You guys wanna play?"
Mirio bent his head in Eri's direction, "This is the game you wanna play, right?"
Eri looked around the tent. Tons of bottles were placed on the table in the center, while stuffed animals, keychains, and action figures littered the walls made of sheets. She never got to play games like this before, she was nervous, but Mirio's smile was so warm; it made her feel safe. She nodded.
"Okay then!" The purple girl cheered, "Here's how you play! You see these rings," she gestured to the red rings in the bucket, "Your goal is to get them around the necks of those bottles, then you win a prize!" she ended with a grandiose pose showing off the entire interior of the tent.
"Necks?" Eri questioned, looking to Mirio for guidance.
"It's the little skinny part that leads up to where you drink from," Mirio explained.
"Oh,", she looked around for somewhere to place her candy apple, when Mirio held out his hand, a harmless gesture to hold her treat for her while she played.
Eri slowly plucked a ring out of the bucket, held it out in front of her, then threw it into the field of bottles. Instead of going around the "neck" of the bottle, like it was supposed to, it just bounced around and off onto the floor. Eri, confused, look back to Mirio for guidance, "Go on, try again. I'm sure you'll get it next time!"
