"Ah, my lady, I can see that you've been upset lately. Your eyes are still a bit swollen from crying, and I've noticed that you haven't been eating as much as usual. You've lost some weight, and today is your engagement. I'm concerned that your dress may be a bit loose on you. Is there anything I can do to help?" Head maid gently expressed her worry as she assisted Carol in getting ready for the engagement.

Carol was a vision of beauty in her stunning pink off-shoulder gown, which elegantly showcased her delicate collarbone. Her rosy cheeks, tinged with a hint of pink, and the subtle redness under her eyes from shedding a few tears only added to her radiance. It was impossible not to be captivated by her breathtaking appearance.

Her countenance, etched with sorrow, betrayed no trace of joy for either the engagement or her birthday. A profound sadness consumed her, as she reminisced about someone who held no significance to her.

"Please, allow me to handle this," Chloe dismissed the maid, her heart sinking as she grasped the gravity of Carol's predicament.

"Chloe complimented Carol's stunning appearance, remarking that she looked so beautiful that even Duke Leon might be tempted to keep her hidden away from the world. As she gently combed Carol's lustrous black hair, which cascaded down her back, Chloe couldn't help but admire her sister's natural beauty.

"I will miss you dearly, Chloe, my beloved family... The ache in my heart is overwhelming, for I know how much I will long for each and every one of you..." Carol's voice trembled as tears streamed down her face. Witnessing her sister's raw emotion, Chloe's own heart swelled with a mix of sadness and love. In that moment, a flood of cherished memories rushed through her mind, like a montage of joyous moments and shared laughter.

"Don't cry! Head maid will die if you ruin your makeup," Chloe tried to calm Carol, but she started crying herself.

As the grand event drew near, their unwavering support and genuine care for one another flourished, creating an atmosphere of unparalleled unity and devotion.

With a gentle tap on the door, the maid gracefully entered the room, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "My apologies for the interruption, but I have delightful news to share," she announced, her voice filled with a hint of mystery. "Duke Leon Lanchester, the esteemed nobleman himself, has graced us with his presence. He has come specifically to escort the enchanting Carol to the grand soirée this evening." Her words hung in the air, carrying an air of anticipation and allure.

"Come on, Chloe, dry those tears," Carol's voice quivered as Chloe enveloped her in a comforting embrace, gently coaxing her tears to a halt.

Carol gracefully guided herself down the stairs, her every movement exuding elegance and poise. As her delicate foot touched the ground, she caught sight of a mesmerizing silhouette, a young man in the prime of his youth, exuding an aura of undeniable charm. The soft glow of the surroundings seemed to accentuate his features, highlighting his captivating emerald eyes that sparkled with a hint of mystery.

Time seemed to stand still as the young man's gaze locked onto Chloe's, his eyes widening in awe and admiration. It was as if an electric current surged through his veins, momentarily rendering him speechless. However, his composure quickly returned, and with a confident stride, he closed the distance between them, extending his hand in a gesture of both invitation and reverence.

"Allow me the honor, my lady?" he whispered in a velvety voice, his touch as delicate as a feather, a captivating smile gracing his lips as he looked at Carol. Overcoming her initial hesitation, Carol extended her hand, surrendering herself to his confident guidance.

It was a truly heartwarming moment for both of them. As they strolled along, Leon couldn't help but gaze at her eyes, which were filled with emotion and radiated a sense of beauty and grace.
