Chapter-36

Damon

What will you ever do without me?

I woke up to Val's singing. I had the most amazing sleep! I took a deep breath. The amazing smell of roses filled my senses. It's amazing waking up to this scent. Wait, where is it coming from? Roses aren't planted in hell. I opened my eyes and saw Cyra in my arm snuggling close to my chest, again. How do we always wake up like this when we sleep together?

Wait, that out wrong!

I carefully unwrapped my arm from her and tried to get out of her hold. But as soon as I shifted, she snuggled closer to me. Shit! I don't want to wake her up but I can't stay like this irrespective of how comfortable...no, Damon focus!

I heard Val's giggle behind me. Shit, I forgot she was also here. I turned towards her.

"Val, what do I do?" I asked her.

She giggled even more and shook her head. Still, she unwrapped her arms from my waist and carefully turned her. I stood up but missed her warmth against my body. Wait what?

"So, how was your sleep?" she sang.

"Why in the world did you lock us out?" I whisper asked.

"Aww, you're afraid you'll wake her up. You guys are adorable," Val cooed.

"Val, answer me!"

"I asked you first, how was your sleep?" she said with a smug smile while I glared at her.

I had an amazing sleep, but I won't tell her that.

"Morning guys," Cyra said yawning.

She looks so cute....nope, she does not. I never thought that.

"So, what do we have to do today?" she asked, her voice still husky from sleep.

"How is your hair so perfect after you sleep? Mine look like a bird nest when I wake up!" Val asked.

"You never answer the questions people ask, do you?" I asked.

"Nah, I just know what my priorities are," she simply stated.

"And hair is your priority?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Duh! If she has some secret shit that can keep your hair like that, it's definitely my priority." She answered in a duh tone.

Cyra giggled. "No, I don't have a secret. Also, they don't always look so perfect when I wake up. They sometimes just work with them. I swear, I think they have a brain of their own!" she replies.

"I agree," Val nodded.

"So, to answer your question, Val will be opening the skotádi tomb barrier," I answered her now-forgotten question.

"Okay, what after that? Next, we have the vampire protection layer. Any ideas on how to break that one?" she asked.

"From what I know, Vampires made a door. You'll need to steal the key." Val answered.

"So where is this 'key'?" I asked.

"In the vamp palace. I think I know where it is but I can't come with you there." Val answered.

"Why?" Cyra asked.

I snickered at the memory.

"She has a bad reputation among vampires," I said.

"Yes, I may or may not have broken their sacred crown, and gotten caught," Val replied.

"Shit! Don't they worship it or something?" Cyra asked.

I'm honestly surprised by her immense knowledge of hell.

"Yes, they do. I was close friends with the queen earlier and she led me to their 'secret chamber'. It's called something else but I don't remember it. It had a lot of precious stuff kept in it. I saw the crown and was drawn to it. I picked it up when the queen left momentarily and it slipped from my hands when she startled me while coming in. Even though it did not do any permanent damage to it, I am not allowed in the Vamp land. The secret chamber is where the key is and I can tell you how to get there." Val explained.

"Okay but how would we get in?" Cyra asked.

"I think they have a ball tonight. I can make you both dresses so you can merge in. The vamp palace would be open that day for all so it shouldn't be such a hard thing to sneak in. After that, you'll have to go to the secret chambers. I can't help you on the way between the ballroom to the chamber, but after that, you can wear an invisibility cloak. The cloak though only works for a limited time so you can only wear it inside the chamber. You'll also have to be quick about it as it only works for exactly five minutes before it automatically stops working." She explained.

"Wow, you've got it all laid down for us," Cyra said.

"Yeah, thanks," I said.

"What will you ever do without me?" Val answered dramatically.

After that, she took out a map of the vamp palace, which she got from god knows where, and explained us the way. It was all pretty simple for us since Val knew every detail of the palace. Having an old, extremely extrovert witch as your friend has its perks. All we had to do was merge in till midnight, till the food starts, and sneak to the chambers. Well, at least it's easy theoretically.

The vamp land is just outside the witch barrier, so Val made our dresses for the ball and rehearsed our plan. She also gave us the invisibility cloak and told us to meet by the witch barrier at exactly 1.
