"Sir-- Are-- are you sure?" The usually assertive voice trembled in hesitance.
"Yes. And there is no other way. This has to be done." The commanding voice of the older was no different than usual, but he was sure he could see a foreign emotion brimming in those tired eyes.
"S-sir, I ask you again. Please-- Are you absolutely sure? Is there truly no other way?" His knuckles were turning pale from clutching the blue file so hard. He could feel cold sweat trickle down his spine, shivering at the sudden order he had received. He did not want to do this.
A low sigh left the gruff voice. "I know son, you do not wish to do this. Neither do I. But it is the need of the hour. I have no better man for this. There is no doubt from the information we have received from our detectives in all of the companies that are collaborating at such a short note. Please son, I ask you as a father."
The soldier had no choice but to lower his head and give a curt nod. He wasn't sure if he were to say this but the words that left his lips had the older nod in agreement and wrap the wrinkled arms around him...
Wishing none of this would have happened.
