TW: slight mention of homophobia
Charlie's PoV: We took Maddie for her first sleepover and she was so excited about. "Maddie are you ready to go?" I shout from the bottom of the stairs. "Yes papa!" She says as she's walking down the stairs. "Have you got everything?" I say. "Yes papa." As she gives me a hug. "Go and give your dad a hug and tell we are leaving." "Okay." Nick comes over. "Have fun Madds and be good." He says "I will dad. As we get into the car maddie gets more excited "Maddie I know you're excited but please calm down." "Sorry papa I can't help it." We pull into the driveway and I drop Maddie off the mum looked very friendly.
At the sleepover
Maddie's PoV: I went upstairs to Katie's room and we played on her tv playing Mario kart. But obviously I win well a couple of times then we make small talk. "Why are so good at Mario kart?" Katie asks. "Because my two dads taught me how to play." Then she says. "You have two dads that's a bit weird." "It's not it's normal." I say back. Katie looks at me and goes "for me it would me embarrassing to have two dads." Then we continue playing Mario kart I'm silently crying but at the same time my dads have been texting me. I decided I'm still going to enjoy the rest of the sleepover.
After dinner. (Still Maddie's PoV)
I told Katie that I would get her a drink so I went downstairs and I went into the kitchen and I seen her mum. "Are you okay there darling?" Said Katie's mum. "Yeah I'm getting us a drink." I say smiling at her. "Are you sure you're okay?" She asks. "Katie was a little mean when I told her about my two dads." "How did that happen?" "Just after playing Mario kart." She hugs me "don't worry about her I will deal with her in the morning when you leave." "Thank you." I say. "Should I text your parents?" "No I will do it. She nods her head and heads into the living room.
The morning after the sleepover (Maddie's PoV.)
After having breakfast I quickly get changed and I text my dad
M: Hi dad. Can you come and pick me up?
N: Are you okay darling?
M: yeah I guess how is papa?
N: he's okay now that you've been texting us
M: I'm sorry
N: it's fine Maddie.
After I've texted my parents I go and find Katie and was in her room and we played Mario kart but we didn't talk as much as yesterday. An hour goes by and the doorbell rings it's my dad. "Dad!" "Hey baby!" We arrive home and we decorate the Christmas tree.
