CRASH! A vase from a tabel had fallen to the ground as Charolette and Mary were running around the house. Charolette and Marry were twin sister, both age 11. They looked completely alike, even there hair. The only way you could tell them apart was the way they styled their hair. Mary had her hair up in just one ponytail, and Charolette had her hair separated into two pigtails. Their family was slowly falling apart, night by night...but the sisters are trying to stay as close as they can get in their tough times...their mother had passed away only 3 weeks ago....

Both sisters turned to eachother. "Oh no....daddy won't be happy about this...that was mommy's favorite vase!" Mary exclaimed in fear.

"Quick, maybe it won't be so bad this time if we can clean it up before he get's home!" Charolette rushed. Their father would be home any minute now, and they did not want to make him angry and irritated...if he came home drunk again, he would be ten times worse. Both girls were rushing to find the broom and vaccum, but before they could get back to the mess, both girls heard the door be slammed open.

"MaryAnne! Charolette!" his drunken voice yelled through the house.

Mary looked to her twin sister in fear, Charolette just motioned for her to be quiet as they walked out to the living room cautiously to greet their drunk, abusive, father home.

"Hello daddy, Welcome back home!" they said in unison. Both putting up a fake, but believable smile, hoping to hide any fear on their face.

"Tell me something girls, why is your mother's favorite vase in a bunch of pieces in the entrance?" his tone level, but hinting anger. Charolette spoke up, her twin too scared to speak.

"I am sorry daddy. Mary and I were chasing each other and I accidentally knocked it over. I am really so-" she was cut-off short by her fathers hard slap to the face. She fell to the ground holding her cheek, tears beginning to form in her eyes from the sting of the slap.

"Enought! I have had it with you and your sisters antics! You two have gotten to be so horrible after your mother died!" he yelled towards both of them. Mary stood off to the side, fearing that what happened to her sister, would happen to her. she was going to hide behind the couch, but her father turned towards her before she could.

"You!" he yelled, "It is all YOUR falt your mother is gone! If you hadn't throw your ball into the road, she would have never saved you! You should have died in her place, you no good little BRAT!"

Mary was in tears, her, once caring and loving, father's voice stung. She had always been really sorry for causing her mothers death...she held up her arms to try and sheild away the awaiting hit from her father...but instead was pushed out of the way and heard another loud smack sound. Mary opened her eyes to see Charolette on the ground. Charolette had saved her sister from being punched, and landing into the pile of broken glass. Charolette cried in pain, and Mary had ran away from the inncident. She had to find somethign to help, anything...

Charolette felt her leg go numb from all the pain. She couldn't take it anymore, she had to try and escape. She could run away to her grandmothers house. It would be easy too, all they have to do, is go through the woods behind their house, on the otherside would be the opposide end of town where their Grandmother lived. Mary came running into the room again holding a wooden bat in her hands. She came behind her father, who was making his way to Charolette again. Mary stood on the top of the couch and swung the bat to the back of her fathers neck, causing him to fall unconsious to the floor....
