Y/N runs to the town while inside, a mobian is seen holding a wispon.
Male Mobian: Run! Get to the storm bunker!
The mobian was shaking due to the fear as an Eggpawn smacked the wispon out of his hand leaving him defenseless but Y/N smashed them to pieces and lent a hand to the mobian.
Y/N: Hey! You hurt?
Male Mobian: N-not really. You're...You're Y/N! You're THE Y/N.
Y/N: The one and only. Here you go. Try swinging it at the robots next time. I knew somebody who put it to good use. Maybe get inside, buddy. Nice chat! Need to save your town. Bye!
Male Mobian: O-Okay!
Y/N: Sweet! The town Militia! Bots coming in from the north! You've got a guy holding his own out there!
Solider: O-Okay! We're on it!
Two young mobians were trying to get inside a bunker as Motorbugs approached.
Young Female Mobian: Hurry up! They're closing in!
Young Male Mobian: I'm trying! It's stuck!
Y/N blitz through the Motorbugs and winks at the two mobians before dashing off.
Young Female Mobian: ...All this terror might be worth it if I get to say Y/N winked at me!
Young Male Mobian: I hope we survive long enough to get his autograph!
Y/N was running before a hammer was slammed into the ground right before Y/N as he looks up to see it was hammer-wielding Super Badnik.
Y/N: Oh hey. Another hammer-guy. I liked the earlier one better. *Jumps up* Where ya going?
Y/N attacks the badnik's hammer pushing it back a few times before bouncing off and landing underneath a manhole.
Y/N: C'mon, big guy! Swing batta-batta-batta- *Notices he's surrounded by other super badinks* swing? Yeah, okay, this one's on me.
All four super badniks slam their hammers onto Y/N but he emerged from another manhole.
Y/N: "Hedgehog." Noun. A burrowing animal.
Y/N starts to run while the super badinks follow him.
Y/N: Whoa! You guys can really move when you want to!
One of the super badniks was about to land a hit until suddenly Y/N was swept off the ground and saw his rescuer was-
Y/N: Tails!
Tails: Could you not risk your life for five minutes?
Y/N: Sure, but where's the fun in that? Seriously though, thanks for the save.
Tails: My pleasure! What's the status of the town?
Y/N: A bunch of small-fry badinks. I took care of most of them and the town's militia can handle the rest. But those super badniks are another story.
Tails: Those are better left to the professionals!
Y/N: Let's show 'em how it's done!
The two friends work together to destroy three super badniks but unknown to them, an airship is above them, and inside are a man and a woman watching them.
Tails: This would be going a lot faster if we had Knuckles with us.
Y/N: Naaaah. We're doing fine!
Tails: The remaining robots are making a run for it!
Y/N: We can't risk them attacking another town. You cut them off! I'll handle the super badnik!
Tails: On it!
Y/N trips the super badnik, bounces off one of the houses, and runs on the hammer of the super badnik before going right through the head, completely leaving it lifeless. Y/N noticed that the remaining robots were almost out.
Y/N: They're almost out! C'mon, Tails! Hurry up!
Tails: Oh ye of little faith...
Tails pulls the lever that controls the town's gate to close right before the badniks can leave so they can break upon impact.
Tails: Well?
Y/N: *Clapping* Expertly done. Bonus points for the dramatic timing.
Tails: Thank you, thank you.
Y/N: Another day saved by Y/N and Tails! These rouge robots are more like pests than anything.
Tails: Normally I'd agree...but this was a much more coordinated attack. At least compared to anything we've seen.
Y/N: *Sarastic* Really? I hadn't noticed.
Tails looks at his best friend with a face that reads "Don't be sarcastic."
Y/N: Okay fine. The Egg Hammers were new to the mix.
Tails: That's not what I mean. After we beat Dr. Eggman and his forces, we broke the Eggman Empire's control over our world. The badnik army remained, but not as a unified threat. Ant attacks seemed more like accidents than aggression. But today-unified troop movements? Super badniks being deployed? Setting ambushes? Something is making Eggman's army more cohesive.
Y/N: Point taken. Do you think Eggman is back?
Tails: Without so much as an angry vlog? No way. After that last defeat, he'd make sure we knew he was back. The lack of fanfare is spooky.
Y/N: In that case, I'll just keep doing what I've been doing. Those badniks are a threat to everyone, organized or not. I'll keep traveling around, smashing every one I see.
Tails: Yeah, but if they are getting orders from someone...
Y/N: Then it'll make it more fun!
Tails: J-Just...be careful, okay? If you get off guard again...get hurt...
Y/N looks at his best friend with a worried expression. He remembered what caused Eggman to rule the world and that was him being caught off guard.
Y/N: Hey. Sure, we've had some close calls. But we've come out of it fine in the end, right?
Tails: Yeah, I guess.
Y/N: I'll be more careful. I promise.
Tails: ...Okat. Thanks Y/N.
Y/N: If you're so worried, you can always come with me.
Tails: Yeah! Just like old times and-!
Tails looks behind him to see the town in ruins, he wants to accompany Y/N but at the same time, wants to help the locals. After a moment, he made his decision.
Tails: There are too many badnik gangs out there. You'll find them faster on your own. I'll stay here and help the locals rebuild their town.
Y/N: You're a class act, buddy. We'll bash bots some other time.
Tails: Deal.
Y/N leaves the town as the airship from before follows him as well as a badnik watching him from afar as a mysterious figure comments on this.
???: So...he survived the first trial. Unsurprising. Deploy a battalion to the nearest town. He'll be drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Make sure word of Y/N's latest success both Union and the Resistance. I want to crush both hedgehogs in one strike.
