I watched Nico run up the stairs tears gathered in my eyes, obviously I didn't mean to be insensitive but I guess that was how I sounded. I grabbed his plate and my own then cleared the table. I didn't want to make my father angry so I cleared all traces if diner before heading up to my room.

I grabbed my sketch-pad and absentmindedly started drawing a horse. It was a tall roan stallion running through a field with few worries in life. I found myself daydreaming about being on that, no responsibility, no stress only a positive air and the wind messing up my hair. The only downside to that was loosing my new friends.

I continued drawing until I heard my phone ding, I checked who it was and saw it was Frank.

Frank: Hey Hazel the girls were bugging me for your number can I give it to them?

Hazel: Sure Ill wait for them to message me, thanks!

Frank: No problem I just sent your number.

Hazel: Thanks see you tomorrow!

Frank: Yep! Bye

Hazel:Byee

After I said bye my phone started ringing and it showed an unfamiliar number. Must be Piper or Annabeth, I thought to myself pressing the answer button.

"Hello, Hazel Levasque speaking."

"Hey Hazel its Piper, why do you answer like my dad and moms secretaries?"

"Oh," I thought to myself for a moment my mim raised me to be formal so that must have rubbed off on the way I answered calls. "I was raised formal, you don't mind texting right cause I can't call."

"No problemo, Ill message you!"

I heard my father pull up into the driveway and added Piper to my contacts before spending downstairs to grab a snack before my father cane in.

I sat in bed waiting for Piper to message me as I tried to eat a frozen a fruit bowl from the freezer. If I was being completely honest I didn't want to message Piper at the moment but since I had just met her I didn't want to seem rude and ignore her. I picked up my phone when it let out a dinging sound and checked her message.

Piper: Can't chat c u tmrw aurevoir

Hazel: No problem Ttyl

I put my phone away to charge and closed my eyes hopping my dreams would take me to the meadow where I drew myself riding the roan horse. Maybe with Frank by my side on a big flea bitted grey mare. I let my imagination bring me to sleep.

I woke up to my alarm blaring, I jumped out of bed and turned it off still rubbing sleep from my eyes. At least it's Tuesday, I thought to myself as I put on my uniform. I went to the bathroom and remembered that I didn't take a shower yesterday evening so I hopped in since I wake up pretty early. The only downside about showering in the morning was my hair which is extremely high maintenance being curly and all. I had about a million different hair products that I used when I showered and about a million more for when I simply brush it. I knew I had to wash my hair so I tried my best to finish up quickly in the shower that way my hair was at least dry before school.

I got changed after my shower and did my hair leaving me with fifteen minutes to have breakfast, brush my teeth and get out of the door. I headed down the small flight of stairs to see Nico with an egg sandwich infront of him obviously for me.

"Hey Haze," he said quietly. "Im sorry fir snapping at you yesterday I-I'm sorry I made this for you."

"Thanks Neeks, you should really eat though." I bounced on my toes and gave him a hug before devouring the sandwich and finishing up my preparation for school.

By the time I was running to the bus stop Nico was already there waiting for me. I couldn't wait to see Frank and the others today since I planned on trying to introduce Nico to them, it would probably fail but it was worth a shot since not talking to people isn't exactly good for you, well at least for an extrovert like myself.

The bus pulled up and I entered this time searching for someone to sit with. I looked around and finally saw a girl with red hair and electric green ends sitting alone talking to two boys behind her. "Hi, Im Hazel mind if I sit with you?" I asked hoping she wasn't reserving a seat for anyone.

"Sure! Im Kayla and this is my cousin Will," she pointed at a tall tanned blond guy. "And this is my brother, yes I know we look nothing alike, Austin!" She pointed at a guy with skin nearly as dark as mine and braided hair.

I took a seat and stared talking about the classes we took and stuff like that. It turns out Austin and Kayla were in my grade and we shared a few classes and Will was in Nicos grade and they also shared a few classes.

"So are you new to Vermont," I asking noticing that they didn't seem to know much about the area.

"Yeah," said Austin, "Kayla and I are from Toronto meanwhile Wills from Texas."

"Oh thats cool I moved here a year ago from New Jersey, well technically Alaska but I wasn't there long, only for about a month."

"Thats cool," said Will, "you have a bit of experience to the cold unlike some of us."

Before I knew it, I was rushing off the my first class which was unfortunately Algebra, honestly I don't know anyone who likes it.

Finally it was lunch, I ran over to Percy who was already saving us our table. "Hey Percy, can I invite someone people over? I met them on the bus," I asked running towards him. "Sure whats their names?" He asked with a shrug.

I didn't have the chance to say anything else because I already saw them entering the cafeteria. When I got closer I waved and indicated them to our table. "Percy meet Will, Austin and Kayla," I said to the Junior. Percy and Annabeth were the oldest of the group being Juniors meanwhile Leo, Piper and I were the only freshman but most of them knew each other since childhood.

We waited until everyone was there before we introduced ourselves.

"Hey Im Will nice to meet you!"

"Im Kayla and thats my brother Austin."

"And Wills our cousin, but Im Austin."

"Im Percy, nice to meet you."

"Annabeth"

"Jason"

"Piper"

"Frank"

"Supersized McShizle"

"Leo stop that. Obviously Im Hazel and thats my brother over there be right back." I rushed off to get Nico so that he could at least meet my friends.

"Oh hey Haze," said Nico before I grabbed his wrist and dragged him over to my table. When I grabbed his wrist he seemed to flinch but it must of been my imagination.

"This is Nico!" I introduced him hopping on the balls of my feet.

"P-Percy, I-I." He said tripping over his words as his face grew even paler.

"Nico, you, you've changed," replied Percy scanning my brother over.

"Well no shit," said Nico suddenly regaining his voice. "Im no longer the helpless kid you used to know, did you think I would stay the fucking same. Haze I gotta go." With that Nico ran off not even giving me the chance to say anything.

"Percy, what did you do to my brother," I said, with each word I as getting more and angry.

"Look Hazel, he blames me for Biancas death since he had a bad feeling about our hike and that he had to stay back and I guess he still hasn't forgiven me."

I nod and turn around as Leo jumped in front of me. "ARG, Leo where did you come from."

"Pipers moms bed," he said with a mischievous grin.

"You know what Leo? Shut up," I rolled my eyes and sat down between Frank and Kayla to eat, to say I wasn't blushing since I was so close to Frank was a complete lie. Unfortunately I was in love and couldn't escape it even for some reason I wanted to.
