Chapter 2

This morning, Scarlett woke up all happy for her second day of school. She got up and went towards her alarm, asking herself why it didn't ring. Suddenly, she started rushing to the bathroom to get ready—she was late by an hour! How could she not hear the alarm? She was thinking to herself. What she forgot was that her roommate was Cassidy.

This same morning, Cassidy had woken up earlier just to turn off the alarm before it rang. She sabotaged Scarlett just so she could be late for her second day. Cassidy really hated her. As Scarlett ran to class, the teacher, Mr. Anderson, raised an eyebrow at her tardiness. The students turned their heads to look at her, some whispering and giggling behind their hands. Scarlett felt a blush creeping up her cheeks but maintained eye contact with the teacher. "Scarlett, tardiness is not something we take lightly here," Mr. Anderson said sternly. "But since it's your second day, I'll let it slide. Just make sure it doesn't become a habit. "Scarlett nodded, grateful for the small mercy. She quickly found an empty seat, trying to ignore the curious glances from her classmates.                                                                                                                                                                                           During the break, Scarlett decided to confront Cassidy about the morning incident. She found Cassidy surrounded by her group of friends—Ophelia, Athena, Cassandra, Artemis, and Lorine—sitting alone in the courtyard, reading a book."Cassidy, we need to talk," Scarlett said, her frustration evident in her voice. Cassidy looked up, feigning innocence. "What do you want brat?"Don't play dumb. You turned off my alarm this morning, didn't you?" Scarlett accused, crossing her arms. Cassidy smirked, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Guilty as charged. You're so annoyingly perfect, always getting everything you want. I thought it was about time someone knocked you off your high horse."Scarlett was taken aback. She never expected Cassidy, her supposed friend and roommate, to harbor such resentment. "Why are you doing this? What did I ever do to you?"Cassidy shrugged. "Your presence makes me puke, and it's fun"

"Cassie! It's too early for this we do not even know if she remembers" Ophelia whispered in Cassidy's ears.

"Whatever Ophelia I don't care" said Cassidy getting up, "Cassandra come on we're going to the library".

"Yeah yeah I'm right behind you," said Cassandra a little annoyed.

"Anyways girls let's go to the student council meeting" said Ophelia while standing up.

"Okay let's go" said Scarlett also getting up.

"No Scarlett you're not coming," said Athena while grabbing Ophelia by the hand, "Only me, Ophelia and Artemis have the right to go to the student council meeting   i'm sorry but you'll be lonely" exclaimed Athena.

"No, I won't. There's still Lorine," said Scarlett, determined not to be left out. Athena exchanged a knowing glance with the others, but they didn't protest further. Scarlett watched as they left for the meeting, a mix of disappointment and defiance in her eyes. Lorine, maintaining her poker face, gave Scarlett a nod.

"Sorry, Scarlett, I've got something else to do right now. Rain check?"                                                                        Scarlett, oblivious to the hidden motives, nodded and watched Lorine walk away. Unaware of her hidden motives, Lorine's real plan was to join Cassidy and the others in the library. Earlier Ophelia, Athena, and Artemis had only said one truth that they were going to a meeting but it wasn't the student council's one. The girls had a shared history, one that Scarlett had forgotten due to her mother's intervention.

In the library, Cassidy, Ophelia, Athena, Lorine, Artemis, and Cassandra were deep in conversation, discussing their shared past. They all remembered Scarlett's actions, the accident she had orchestrated that was meant to end them. However, their immortality had saved them from certain death, and the memory of that betrayal lingered in their immortal minds. As Lorine entered the library, the atmosphere changed. Cassidy shot her a knowing look, and they subtly shifted the topic of conversation as Scarlett's name came up."I don't trust her," Athena whispered to the group. "We need to be careful. She might not remember, but we do."

Scarlett, still oblivious to the animosity building against her, decided to explore the school on her own.

"I really need to find a real friend, I can't live like this", said Scarlett walking in those gloomy halls, "But those girls remind me of my ex-victims, its the same names.." Scarlett started thinking to herself, "Yep definetely them but how?", as Scarlett was thinking she bumped into someone.

"Oh sorry didn't see you.." Scarlett immediatly stopped talking she couldn't believe her eyes.

"Are you okay..SCARLETT!?" said the unknown person.
