Crackling noises sounded behind me. I turned around to see the creatures eyes glaring back at me. His scaly brow was furrowed in fury. More cracks started to cover the crystal until it shattered open.
Edric pulled me behind him and grabbed a dagger from his waist. "Run to the palace Vivian," he said with determination.
"I can't leave you alone Edric," I told him.
"Please listen to me. I'll be able to focus better knowing you're safe."
I stood for a little bit and then nodded my head. "Be safe. I'll go get help," I said before heading to the ladder.
A loud crash sounded as the crystal busted apart.
I heard a scream from the monster before hearing Edric yell back at it. My arms aches from how fast I climbed the ladder.
I felt my legs ache from the pumping I did to sprint back to the palace.
I ran until I found Clare holding a basket of grapes. "Clare, where's Felix or any elf men you trust?"
She looked startled. "Felix is in the library right here. Why do you need trustful elves?"
Felix walked out and widened his eyes once he saw how stressed I was.
"What is it?" Felix asked.
"I need your help and weapons too. Edric's in danger!"
Clare looked surprised. "Danger?"
Felix nodded his head and grabbed a nearby spear.
"The merman who placed the curse is attacking Edric right now. He needs help."
Clare handed me the basket of grapes. "Leave a trail of these grapes on your way to Edric and I'll get more elves to come help. You and Felix go now."
I nodded my head and grabbed a handful of grapes before Felix and I took off.
I ran and made sure to leave a readable trail of grapes to our destination.
Loud growls and metal clashing echoed in the cave below.
"They're in there Felix." I pointed to the ladder.
Felix dropped his sword down and crawled down the ladder at an alarmingly fast rate.
I looked back to see if anyone was close to us yet. I didn't see anyone and heard Felix yell so I turned my attention back to the top of the ladder.
I placed the basket of grapes next to the cave and turned to crawl down the ladder.
A sharp pain stabbed in my side while I fell backwards onto the cold damp ground.
The hideous creature wrapped his clammy hands around my neck briefly before Edric tackled him away from me.
Felix climbed out and swung his sword toward the merman while Edric held him tight.
The merman backed Edric into a tree and kicked the sword out of Felix's hand.
I pulled a piece of crystal out of my side. The merman must've stabbed me when he crawled out.
Edric was trying his best to hold this creature back from hurting Felix.
I stood up and ran to stab the creature. The pain in my side made me feel like throwing up. I fell to my knees before reaching them and grabbed my side.
Warm blood slid through the cracks in my fingers. I tightened my grip on the crystal and stood back up.
I tried once more. Once I got close I swung the crystal down hard on the creatures shoulder. He screeched and kicked me to the ground. I landed by the tree Edric was up against. The crystal that was in my hand went flying into the palm trees surrounding us.
Felix ran towards the creature with his sword with a yell.
The creature clawed at Edric's arms and screamed.
Ben ran out and smacked Felix's sword with another blue sword he held.
The sound of yells and weapons clashing allowed the elves to find us faster along with the trail of grapes.
The merman slipped out of Edric's arms and ran for me.
"Stop we have to go Heathe," Ben yelled at the creature.
"She needs to die. She'll ruin everything," Heathe yelled.
Edric ran in front of me and pointed his dagger at Heathe. "You'll die if you try anything." Edric warned Heathe.
Footsteps crunched in the distance while more elves came into view.
I stood up slowly and held my side to keep more blood from escaping. I walked closer to Edric and tried to focus on my breathing.
"Heathe we need to go now," Ben yelled.
Heathe growled and ran with Ben to the ocean.
Edric turned around to see me holding my side. "Vivian, you're bleeding," he said and walked closer to me.
I collapsed into Edric's arms. My vision was dark and I was trying my best to stay awake.
He looped one arm under my legs and the other arm around my back to pick me up. "Clare she needs attended to right away," he said when Clare came into view.
"We should go after them," Felix said.
"I agree," Edric said and started to set me down.
"No, don't go. Please stay both of you!" I yelled.
"He wants to kill you Vivian," Felix said.
"I don't want him to kill any more people," I said.
Clare put her hand over mine. "I need to get her to the hospital right away. Edric, it would be best if you take her since she's already in your arms. Your arms are bleeding as well. Both of you need to be taken care of."
"I should be the one to go after Ben anyways. It's my fault that he got the mermen so close to Vivian," Felix said.
"No it's not Felix." The words barely made it out of my mouth. I needed to get my wound cleaned and sealed up soon.
Before I realized, Edric ordered a bunch of elves to follow Heathe and Ben's tracks along with aiding Felix. "If they're in the ocean already, do not attack them in their own element," Edric told them.
Edric lifted me up and we headed to the palace while Felix and the other elves followed our attackers' tracks.
