A pale face stared back at me from my reflection in the pond water. The big breakfast I had with Clare earlier filled me up and I was ready to go out exploring with Edric. I had changed into the lavender dress Clare brought me earlier.
The dress was really dainty on the top and came out to bell like sleeves on the middle of my forearms. The bell part opened and went halfway down my dress to my calves. The top was form fitting and then slowly thickened in thin layers at my waist on down to my ankles. It was a beautiful and elegant gown. Clare found out my shoe size somehow and had found me a pair of strap sandals that wrapped around my calves.
I looked away from the pond water and crouched down to touch the cold floor. I laid down against the cold floor and put my cheek against it to watch the pond's peaceful water reflect the ceiling above me. I turned over to lay on my back and stare at the ceiling. The room glowed while the sun shone through cracks that led into my room.
How am I going to get all of us off of this island? I thought.
A light tap tap noise sounded on my door.
I sat up lazily and pushed myself up with my legs to head to the door. the elegant dress swayed behind my petite body while I walked over to the door and opened it.
Edric stood in the doorway. He wasn't wearing heavy armor now. He adorned a white shirt and navy blue trousers along with squeaky clean black shoes. His perfectly chiseled face was framed by his long black hair. His hair was pulled into a loose braid behind his back. His silver eyes caught some of the glowing lights on the hallway floor outside of my room which made his eyes more mystical. He smiled a perfectly white smile when he noticed how mesmerized I was.
He could almost pass for a vampire, I thought. I watched him put his hand on his chest and nod his head as if in a greeting bow. I stood up straight when he put his free hand out to pull me out of my room. Not a date, I thought to myself. This is not a date. My heart fluttered.
I gently put my hand in Edric's and he led me out of my room. The door silently shut behind us.
"How was your night Vivian?" he asked me to start a casual conversation.
My heart flipped. Hopefully he didn't realize I snuck out last night, I thought. "I slept well, how did you prince Edric?" I asked.
"No need to call me a prince. Edric is fine," he spoke.
He waved his hand to the side and led me out of the palace. The sun was out shining and the dome was no longer holding the water above us since the waves were back down to normal. The beach was already dry from the heat of the sun. A light breeze made my skirts on my dress sway from side to side gently. I looked away from my skirts and felt the sand beneath my sandals while Edric and I headed to the ship wreck.
"Can you tell me what your world is like Vivian?" Edric started a conversation again.
I looked over to him. He was staring forward towards the direction of the ship wreck we were headed to. "My world?" I asked.
"Where you live. Is it different from this island?"
"Have you never left this island before?"
"No one has. Mother spoke of where she lived when I was very little, but I hardly remember now."
My heart tightened a little for his loss. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault. Mother did tell me about helicopters when I was little. I used to always be fascinated by things that could fly. It's just been so long, I've forgotten some of her world."
