Why are you my clarity?
You awoke with a stir, wondering who or what was crying because it was midnight where you were living. You mumbled in annoyance, "Who in their right mind is crying at midnight?" You sit up to check and feel next to you to make sure that Jack is there so you won't wake him. "Wait, what? Why isn't he next to me? Oh no. No no no no. Please say that he wasn't taken or isn't hurt" You mumble as you jump out of bed, startling your guys' cat, Chiara. You grab your sword, which has a golden glint to it when the sun hits it while the hilt is red like blood. See, you were the guardian of heroes, ensuring people still believed in superheroes. Luckily for you, you don't seem to be vanishing anytime soon, not that you're bragging or anything. You walk out of your and Jack's room, grabbing your sheath and putting it around your waist when you notice the crying coming from across the hall, which was the bathroom, which seemed like frost was crawling out of. "Oh no. Jack!" you mumble, almost yelling Jack's name. From across the door, Jack flinches. He didn't want you to see him like this, which was him crying like a baby because of what Pitch did to him. He wiped his eyes and weakly asked "Yeah?" You walked up to the door and tried opening it. It wouldn't budge, which made you frown with concern. 'Jack must've locked it' You thought. You sighed. "Jack, can you please unlock the door?" You ask softly. "Yeah." Your boyfriend mumbled. A second later, you hear a soft "click!" and you open the door to reveal Jack, red in the face with tear streaks running down his face and the bathroom covered in frost. Worry immediately overcame you. "Who did this?" You asked as you set down your sword and rushed to Jack to hold his face in your hands, wiping away his tears. He looked away shamefully like it was a problem that he was crying and you were mad at him. "N-nothing! Just overthinking and thinking about the fight with Pitch." "I'm not mad at all, darling." you hugged Jack, shushing him. "Hey, darling. It's okay. I'm here. Pitch can't hurt us." You assured Jack. You knew all about Jack's fight, the trauma surrounding Pitch, and everything. Jack just hugged you tighter, now a crying and hiccuping mess. You wish you could just go into Jack's mind and get rid of all his trauma. You made a mental note to kill Pitch, but right now your boyfriend needed comfort. Jack then unwrapped himself from you to wipe his face and blow his nose. Jack was feeling skeptical that you weren't there, that it was just Pitch messing with him, and that Pitch was somewhere in the darkness waiting, watching, for another time to strike. You followed close behind to protect your beloved and keep enemies, Pitch specifically, away. On that note, your hand gripped the hilt of your sword. You made Jack follow you into the kitchen where you made him sit in a chair while you got him some water. He smiled and grabbed the glass thankfully. You smiled softly, relaxing your grip on your sword, as you watched Jack visibly relax. When Jack finished his glass of water, you took it from him and set it in the sink. Then you put your sword in its scabbard that you usually had tied around your waist. You walk over to Jack as he stands up. "No. Let me help." Jack tilts his head, confused. You then pick him up bridal style, which makes the winter spirit yelp, and bury his face into your collar. "Promise that you'll wake me up when you have a problem?" "Mhm." You walk the two of you to your guy's room, giggling because of Jack's antics even though you've done this countless times before. You lay Jack in the bed and tuck him in, leaving room for yourself. Then you climb into bed. As you get settled in you hear a small "Sometimes I ask myself, "Why are you my clarity?" and I think I know why, you calm me down and are just really helpful, so thank you for everything. I love you". "You're welcome, You sigh contentedly, spooning Jack as the two of you fall asleep listening to each other's breathing and heartbeat. You wouldn't trade Jack for the world was your last thought as you drifted back to sleep's sweet embrace.
