Nidha's POV:

4 Years Later

The crisp summer sun bands the sidewalk as I stroll down it. The warmth hitting my cheeks as it kisses the tip of my nose. I keep walking, unknown of where my feet will land me.

My eyes wander in my surroundings, from the blazing sun in the sky to the still leaves of the trees to the colorful flowers on the ground. They take in everything and quickly move on to the next marvel of the world.

They finally stop, staring at the biggest wander in front of me. Disregarding my head, my feet take control and lead me to him. Stopping in front of him, my eyes meet his, and lay still.

He raises his hand, shaking as it gives presence in the air.

His soft touch met my cheek as a blush tainted them. "I missed you," He said softly, each word making the goosebumps on my skin instantly wake.

My eyes traced his silhouette as his hand softly moved a strand of hair from my face.

His touch felt good.

Almost too good.

A jerk on my arm snapped me out of what seemed to be a delirium.

"Momsi! WAKE UP!" Tiny hands grabbed onto me and climbed atop my belly.

My eyes managed to peer open at the doll in front of me, a goofy smile welcomed my gaze.

I stared in amazement at her excitement. The ability to wake up so early in the morning with such energy, only the innocence of a child could complete.

The so-called innocent child rested her hands on my shoulder and shook me. Stirring me back and forth to scare away any hint of sleep away from me.

"Ok, ok, I'm awake!" I pushed myself off from my elbows to prove my waking.

Peering outside the windows, I noticed the cloudy skies, barren trees, and snow-covered ground. 'It's going to be a cold day.' I sighed.

"Look at the weather outside kiddo, don't you think we should go under the covers and fall back asleep?" I teased, grabbing the blanket and wrapping it around us.

"Momsi noooo!" Tiny hands fight back against me to no avail. Finally, in surrender, she managed to escape under my hands and jump off the bed. "Momsi, you sleep too much!" She called out behind her, leaving the room.

A chuckle left me as I too got up. I grabbed my phone and checked my schedule for today.

On Call: 8 am-10 pm

The calendar on my phone read. I rolled my eyes, another 14-hour shift awaited me in the hospital. Whoever said Canada has regulated work schedules definitely lied, this was my 3rd 14-hour shift this week and it was only Wednesday.

I quickly took a shower and got ready. Grabbing my scrubs, coat, and purse, I left my room.

"Good morning kiddo!" I kissed the tiny face as it was eating cereal at the dining table.

"My morning started 2 hours ago..." I chuckled at the level of attitude a 4-year-old could have.

"Jaira that's no way to talk to Maasi!" Shraddha called out from the kitchen. She was busy packing Jaira and her lunch and leaving for work.

I always admired her, she seemed to be superwoman. Especially in the past 4 years, she has been an amazing single mother and an even better CEO of Amraj and Co. International here in Canada. She managed to raise a baby and expand a party planning company from India to Canada effortlessly.
