I could tell that he was being serious about this whole thing. He really meant what he said.I looked down at our hands and back up at his face. "If you really liked me then you'd be able to kiss me right now."
We sat in silence for a few seconds until his actions spoke louder then the quiet hum of the night.
His soft lips planted themselves on top of mine. Yes! Finally! He really did like me as much as I liked him!
As the kiss ended he rested his forehead against mine with a sly grin on his face.
"Thanks for everything. You have given me so many memories that I never want to forget. " He smiled.
"I love you," he whispered. The wind blew his hair onto his face.
"I have to go now. I'm so sorry that it had to end this way. I just can't stay here."
"Why are you sorry? It ended perfectly. You're a good kisser by the way." He put his lips back on mine for a long minute. Heaven.
"I wish I could come with you," I said before I could think about what I was saying.
He looked off into the night and let go of my hands. As he climbed down the ladder leading up to the treehouse we were in, I felt a lump in my throat.
He got to the ground. "If you are reckless enough you can come with me and we can run away together. I promise you that I'll keep you safe."
I couldn't have been happier! I climbed down the ladder and instantly hugged him. "I'll go!"
And before I knew it we were running off into the night. We didn't know where we were going, but that was the point. As long as we had each other things would be great.
We were reckless.
