standing outside of the JFK airport, leaning back on the side of my car waiting for my two cousins to come out of the airport. thinking to myself, so eager just to see them after a year of them being overseas. both of my cousins were very successful in the army for the past years as i stayed back in new york to run over the family business. i got them a both a welcome basket just to show them how much i missed them.

my eyes widened as i see both of them coming, making me sprint to them and jumping into a big group hug.

"mikasa, levi. oh my god. i missed you guys so much" i smiled letting go from the hug, looking at both of them on how much they've changed and grew from the last year well maybe not really levi, he has always been shorter than me and mikasa.

mikasa giving me a big smile "there is so much to catch on, on our way back home" levi looked at me up and down seeing how much i've changed also.

"you've gotten taller huh" levi says in monotone. "no hi hello how are you? maybe cause you got shorter levi" i snickered helping them two out their luggage's and bags in the trunk of my car.

"well nice car though, it seems like you've been working" levi nodded as admiring the car.

all of us got into car, mikasa sitting in the passenger seat and levi sitting in the back making phone calls for his work, what can i say? he is captain.

"mikasa, put your hand out RIGHT NOW" me pleading before i started the car, she put her hand and i drool over her beautiful engagement ring.

"wow jean did big on this one for sure" smiling at her knowing i literally helped jean with his big proposal almost a year ago. it was very sweet and sentimental, mikasa is not very much of a big celebration type of girl so the engagement was really only between them and the family. just remembering how much effort he put into this engagement and getting her family to come to paris without her knowing plus us witnessing secretly, it was a pretty big moment for everyone especially her since they've dating for five years.

that's pretty much the reason why they've come back home because of the wedding planning and the huge event is coming up in 6 months. they also do needed a long break especially mikasa is a high ranking soilder and levi is captain.

"so y/n any new things going on the past year?" mikasa asked while i was driving away from the airport.

"honestly just a lot of work, especially father has retired not that long ago and gave me his position, he has put a lot of work on my shoulders" i answer rubbing my forehead on how frustrating this job is, as much as i love it and put all my work and dedication to it, it gets tiring. my father, kenny ackerman, was the ceo of a huge army weapon company for the united states army until he retired and gave me the position. this company has been huge part of the ackerman family since after war that happened almost 2,000 years ago which i heard this one legendary story that this one person killed 80% of humanity which is honestly crazy and unbelievable. as i was saying, this company is practically a heirloom and a big part of us.

"it's going to be okay y/n, you're an ackerman. you're strong and we've grown up to stuff like this" levi patted my right shoulder in comfort.

"let's stop talking about work even though i brought it up" mikasa chuckled and we nodded agreeing with her.

we pulled into the ackerman gate, looking at each other before we go in. even though mikasa and levi are my cousins, we were raised as siblings. my father took in levi before me and mikasa were born since his mother died from an illness. although he is like a brother to me, levi and i do have quite have an age gap. he's 44 right now and i just turned 24. mikasa wasn't brought in our family until we were 10, we found out her parent were robbed and killed in their home. ever since then, we've been a trio.
