Chapter Eighteen: More Wedding Planning and Working Girl

Summer, End of July

It was almost August and I was grateful that over the summer, I was able to go see my parents and stay with them for a while to get my mind over Jake and realize that he is just my boss and that I work for him and our relationship was unhealthy and I needed to focus on two things. One, my career and two, being the best god damn maid of honor that I could be. With that being said I have been working with Jita every day this week to help her finish up the decor that was going to be set on the tables at their reception. I also have been drowing myself in work since cases that Jake would usually fly out to New York for, have been coming here so I've been organzing like a mad woman and every time Jake tried to flirt with me I have shut him down. With all that going on, I had also planned the gender reveal party for Kylie and Danny and we found out that she is going to have a little girl and I was so fucking excited because it was another girl we could add to our group. It was Wednesday and I was praying that tomorrow and Friday go by fast because Jita and I were planning the bridal shower, more so I was she just wanted to go over this list of people that she wanted to me to invite. Anyways, I was kind of feeling burnt out, but I was going to push through because I was feeling incredibly guilty knowing that I have cheated with Jake twice now. There was a video of our infidelitly and I just know that I could hurt Jita so incredibly bad if there was any way this got out, thank god it was filmed on my phone. I don't know why I was feeling guitly, but I think it was also the fact that Jita had asked me personally to be her maid of honor and I've been helping her plan her wedding. Anyways, I pulled myself out of my thoughts and focused back on what I was working on on my computer and I heard a soft knock at my door.

"Come in." I said as I kept my eyes glued on the computer and I looked up and saw that it was Danny and I smiled as I looked at him and he sat in one of the chairs that sat in front of my desk and I hoped that Kylie was okay.

"Hey, I just came to check on you. Kylie has said that you've been ignoring her. Are you two okay? Is everything okay between the two of you?" Danny asked and I smiled and nodded as I looked at him and I didn't even realize that while I was in Alabama that I hadn't talked to Ronnie or Kylie.

"Yeah we're good. I've just been trying to distract myself from overthinking. There's just a lot on my plate and I don't know if Kylie has told you anything that we talked about after my birthday." I said as I looked at him and there was a look on his face that indicated that Kylie told him everything that I said and I sighed as he looked at me.

"Yes, she told me everything. I am keeping my mouth shut because I don't like to be in the middle of things. I promise you Kylie meant well. She's also getting to the point in her pregnancy where she is emotional and can't keep everything in." Danny said and I smiled as I looked at him and I knew that she was over halfway with her pregnancy and I knew that it was getting harder for her to do anything.

"Well since she's what almost 7 months pregnant. I can see it. She called me in the middle of the night the other I think, but I didn't answer because I was sleeping. I bet it was because she had a craving. She's been calling me to see if I want to get late night Taco Bell or ice cream. How are you holding up?" I asked as I looked at him and I knew that everyone was worried and checking in on Kylie since she was getting huge and what not, but no one has really checked in on Danny.

"I am scared shitless. Baby girl kicks a lot and Kylie makes me feel it and every time it scares me. Knowing that I am going to have a daughter in almost two months is scary. I am grateful to you that both Kylie and I have you. We actually picked her name out as soon as we found out it was going to be a girl. I probably should wait to tell you with Kylie, but I need to tell someone." Danny said as he fiddled with his fingers and I knew that not only was he scared to be a dad, but he was going to be the best father ever.
