Chapter 5

Later that night, at the Equestiran Wheel restaurant, Rainbow Blitz and Rainbow Dash were sitting at their table, looking at the view of Appleloosa, and the starry night sky as Rainbow Dash said "This is so nice." "I can't tell you how good it is to be here alone." Rainbow Blitz said as he and Rainbow Dash looked at each other. "Just the two of us. Finally, you and me-!" He was interrupted by AJ who came up to them as he said "Good evening. My name is AJ and I'll be your waiter." "AJ, you work here?" Rainbow Blitz asked. "Well, yeah, Ah work here." AJ said. "What'd you think Ah just snuck in here when nopony was looking and pretended to be your waiter, just so I could hang out with you?" Both Rainbow Blitz and Rainbow Dash exchanged a look with each other, and deciding to play along, Rainbow Blitz said "Oh, yeah. How ridiculous would that be?" "Now, can I start you two lovebirds off with a couple of drinks?" AJ asked. "Yes." Rainbow Blitz asked. "I'll have my usual." Rainbow Dash chuckled, and said "You know what? I'm going have that too." AJ blinked, and said "Uh, right. Your usual." He then went inside the restaurant, and he went to the cider and fruit juice bar as he looked at Jack Pot as he said "Snap Shot! What's Rainbow Blitz's usual?" "How should I know?" Snap Shot asked. "Perfect!" AJ said. "Give me two of them!" "Quiet!" Rockhoof said looking at the TV hanging above the shelf full of apple cider and fruit juice. "My program's on!"

On the TV screen, the cable talk show called The Buried Lede Show, the earth pony show host named Buried Lede appeared as he started talking about the billionaire pegasai pony named Wind Rider, and said "Tonight on The Buried Lede Show! His story gripped all of Equestria! Oil billionaire Wind Rider, in attempt to become the first pegasus to circumnavigate the globe without GPS, ironically ran out of gas and found himself trapped in the wild! Feared dead, he emerged thirty-six days later with his carriage, running on a fuel he'd distilled himself from the natural elements! Since then, he's sold his oil fortune, converted his carriage from a gas-guzzler into an electric carriage, and has devoted his life to finding a renewable, clean-burning fuel. Now he claims to have done it with his Equestrinol. And to show all of Equestria what his new superfuel can do, he's created a racing competition like no other, inviting the greatest champions from all over Equestria to battle in the first ever Equestrian Grand Prix. Please welcome, Wind Rider." Just then, Wind Rider stepped onto the stage as he said "Thank you, Buried Lede. It is very good to be here. Now listen to me, Big Oil. It costs a fortune, Pollution is getting worse. I mean come on. It's a fossil fuel. Fossil. As in dead dinosaurs. And we all know what happened to them. Alternative energy is the future. Trust me, Buried Lede, after seeing Equestrinol, nopony will ever go back to gasoline. again."

AJ looked at Forest Praiser as he said "What happened to the dinosaurs, now?" On the TV screen, Buried Lede said "And on satellite, a Equestrian Grand Prix competitor and one of the fastest pony racers in all of Equestria, Prince Blueblood." Just then, a unicorn pony named Prince Blueblood appeared on screen as he said "It is an honor, Buried Lede. For you." "Wind Rider, why not invite Rainbow Blitz?" Buried Lede asked as AJ collected the drinks, and looked at the screen. "Of course we invited him." Wind Rider said. "But, appearently, after a very long racing season, he is taking some time off to rest." Prince Blueblood smiled smugly as he said "Rainbow Blitz would not have a chance against me!" AJ grunted in an offended manner as Prince Blueblood said "I can go over three hundred kilometers an hour! In miles that is like, uh, way faster than Rainbow Blitz!" "Let's go to the phones." Buried Lede said as he pressed the button on the machine. "Baltimare, you're on the air." "Am I on?" The pony caller on the other end asked. "Hello?" "You're on." Buried Lede said. "Go ahead." "Hello?" The pony caller asked. "Go ahead, caller." Buried Lede said. Then, the call got cut off. After a minute of awkward silence, Buried Lede pressed the button, and said "Let's go to Appleloosa. You're on, caller."

"Yeah, that Prince Blueblood fella you got on there can't talk that way about Rainbow Blitz." AJ said on the other end. "He's the bestest race carriage driver in the whole wide world." Rockhoof and Forest Praiser looked behind them to see that AJ was talking on the office phone as Rockhoof said "Uh oh." "If he is, how you say, the bestest race carriage driver, then why must he rest, huh?" Prince Blueblood asked. "Cause he knows what's important." AJ said. "Every now and then, he prefers just to slow down, enjoy life." "Ah, you heard it!" Prince Blueblood said. "Rainbow Blitz prefers to be slow! Of course, this is not news to me. When I want to go to sleep, I watch one of his races. After two laps, I am out cold!" "That ain't what I meant." AJ said as a pony crowd started gathering. At the table outside, Rainbow Blitz and Rainbow Dash noticed the ponies gathering as Rainbow Blitz said "Hey, what's going on over there?" They went over, and pushed through the pony crowd, and they looked at the screen to see Prince Blueblood as Rainbow Blitz said "Oh it's that carriage driver. His name is-!" "Prince Blueblood." Rainbow Dash said in a dreamy tone. "No wonder there's a pony crowd." "Wait, why do you know his name?" Rainbow Blitz asked feeling irritated. "And don't say it like that. It's three syllables, not ten." "What?" Rainbow Dash asked defending herself. "He's nice to look at. You now, shiny mane and all."

"What's wrong with my mane?" Rainbow Blitz asked. "I thought you like my mane." "Well let me tell you something else there, Mr. Blueblood." AJ's voice said on the phone. "AJ?" Rainbow Blitz asked feeling surprised. "Rainbow Blitz could drive circles around you." AJ said. "Driving in circles is all he can do, no?" Prince Blueblood asked. "No! I mean yes! I mean he could beat you anywhere, anytime, any track!" AJ said as Rainbow Blitz looked at Jack Pot who gives a nod to AJ on the phone as Prince Blueblood said "Buried Lede, can we move on? I need a coller who can provide a little more intellectual stimulation. Like a dumb brick." Rainbow Blitz glared as AJ said "Ha ha! That shows what you know. Dumb bricks is dumb!" Suddenly, Rainbow Blitz pulled AJ away from the phone, and started talking into it as he said "Yeah, hi, this is Rainbow Blitz. Look, I don't appreciate my best friend being insulted like that." When Prince Blueblood heard Rainbow Blitz, he said "Blitz! That was your best friend? Oh. This is the difference between you and me. I know how good I am. I do not need to surround myself with commoner ponies to prove it." Rainbow Blitz smirked as he said "Those are strong words from a pony racer who drives a race carriage that is so fragile." Prince Blueblood got super mad as he said "Fragile?! He calls me fragile?! Not so fast, Blitz!"

"Not so fast." Rainbow Blitz said. "What is that, your new motto?" Then, Prince Blueblood started screaming in anger as his mic got cut off, and as he started throwing a temper tantrum, Wind Rider said "Well, this sounds like something that needs to be settled on the race course. What do you say, Rainbow Blitz? We've still got room for one more racer." "Well, I would love to." Rainbow Blitz said. "The only thing is my crew's off for the season. So-!" He was interrupted when he heard a noise, and he looked behind him to see a banner that says Team Rainbow Blitz, and Foresy Praiser, Rockhoof, Firelight, and Record Scrape standing by. Snap Shot quickly opened three cider bottles, and said "Pit stop." Rainbow Blitz smiled, and said "You know what, they just got back. Deal me in, brony. Ka-chow!" His friends cheered as he exited the phone booth after he hung up. He then looked at Rainbow Dash as he said "I know, I know. I just got back. But, we won't be long, and-!" Rainbow Dash interrupted him as she said "Oh, no, don't worry about me. I've got enough to do around here. AJ's going to have a blast though." Rainbow Blitz became stunned by what he just heard, and Rainbow Dash said "You're bringing AJ, right? You never bring him to any of your races." Rainbow Blitz looked at AJ who tasted the drink, but immediately hated it, and spitted it back in the cup. He looked at Rainbow Dash as she said "Just let him sit in the pits, give him a headset. Come on, it'll be a thrill of a lifetime for him!" AJ went up to them as he said "Your drinks, sir." "AJ." Rainbow Blitz said. "I didn't taste it!" AJ said. "How'd you like to come and see all of Equestria with me?" Rainbow Blitz asked. "You mean it?" AJ asked smiling. Rainbow Blitz nodded, and said "You got me into this thing. You're coming along."
