The rest of the week went by in a flash. When Eda heard about Luz's new Wind and Earth runes (Luz decided to rename her Construction rune because it didn't fit the theme) she was thrilled. While she had been able to help experiment with Luz's Fire and Light runes, they weren't really her primary spell types, but the new ones were a different story. Eda was a bard at heart, despite her insistence to the contrary, and much like Luz, Eda's mind was almost hardwired for unique construction tricks. When they dueled to test them, Eda made the mistake of showing off her 'Hooty' constructs, large owl tubs that slithered and devoured like their namesake, and shortly after that Luz made her own versions. Eastern serpent dragons that mimicked Hooty's movements, and a pair of Komainu that looked like King soon put Eda under pressure. They had one more surprise for the older witch though. Much like Luz they could breath light or fire blasts instead of trying to consume or trap their targets.

Eda did notice something that bothered her during their training, and it was something that she had been noticing more and more as Luz gained more power. Luz was getting more ruthless and dominating. It was subtle at first, but now it was hard to miss. Luz would be her normal warm compassionate self one minute, and then her eyes would shift and she would get cold, calculating, and commanding. There was a raid on the Owl House, a normal weekly event, but Luz nearly lost her cool driving them off, and it worried her Owl Mom. Eda tried to talk to Luz about it, but she seemed unaware or unbothered by the changes.

"Mom, I understand that you're worried, but I've never felt better. Am I a little on edge... ok, I can see it, but I promise I'm fine. I love you," said Luz with a sweet smile. Eda returned the smile, but as soon as Luz left the room her smile fell as she steeled her nerves. Eda hated every part of what she knew she had to do, but she would do anything for her daughter. Pulling out her scroll Eda began to send a message to the only witch she trusted to help her.

(theOwlLady) I'm worried about Luz. I think her changes might not be completely physical.

(theOwlLady) We both know I wouldn't ask unless this was serious. Will you help me?

(WITCHCHICK128) What do you need me to do?

(theOwlLady) You get an infinite card from Mal for working at the library right?

(WITCHCHICK128) Kinda. What am I grabbing?

(theOwlLady) Everything on wryms that is credible. We still don't know which she is, but maybe we can use her changes to figure it out.

(theOwlLady) After that hopefully we can find a better way to help her.

(theOwlLady) I have a 'break glass' answer, but that might do more harm than good.

(WITCHCHICK128) At library now. Give me twenty and I'll be done.

(theOwlLady) thanks Amity

(theOwlLady) i'll remember this when you try to sweep my daughter off her feet

(WITCHCHICK128) As will I

(WITCHCHICK128) It will be nice to have a real Mom since I've never had one.

(theOwlLady) love you two Minty. Btw I'll have your nest done soon. Just stay strong for us.

Eda sent her scroll away, and made up a list for Luz to collect in the woods for their next set of potion orders. She also included a number of more time consuming items to slow her down, and buy them as much time as possible. A few minutes later, Amity arrived sporting a determined stare, and a new black and lilac handbag. It took a moment for Eda to absorb what she was seeing, but when she did Eda smiled. Amity had completely redefined her look. Gone was the perfect disciplined little good girl. Amity was letting her hair hang free, and to complement her spiked glove, Amity was now wearing a pair of ripped black jeans and a pair of black work boots that looked very familiar. As a top Amity was wearing a slightly oversized lilac short sleeve silk shirt. Eda snickered, "Loving the look, but how do you...?"
