The Mysteries of Cheaster High

Chapter two

        Benjamin sits bored at detention, watching time go by slowly.
"So what are you in here for?" asked Alex.

        Suddenly Carla walks up to Benjamin and places both her hands on his desk, '' Probably for doing something really bad, if you know what I mean." said Carla with a wink.

"Get off, are you moonstruck." snapped Benjamin as he shoved her aside.

"How can you say that to me, Bennie boo?" pouted Carla.

"Can't you be any less disgusting Carla" Benjamin said with a fake gag.

Alex bursted into laughter.

"Shut up Alex, you're so annoying" scoffed Carla.

"And enchanting, and handsome, and smart and..." Alex said as he twirled his hair with his finger.

"And stupid!" interrupted Carla , "Back to you Bennie darling, I'm having a birthday party next weekend and you're the guest of honour" she said and then walked back to her seat smiling.

"What about me?" Alex asked.

"Your not invited" snapped Carla.

         Alex knelt in front of her desk and started begging , "Please, pretty pretty pleaseeeeee..." he pleaded.

         Benjamin rolled his eyes at Alex's pathetic actions as Carla said
"Fine, just stop bothering me"

Alex jumped to his feet and cheered "YES!"

          Suddenly the detention minder, Mr Fristle raised his head from his desk,
"Wha.., quiet down everyone!" he said as he rubbed his eyes and put on his round lens spectacles.

          Benjamin looks down at his watch.
"Dammit" he mutters to himself.

          He gets up, grabs his bag and walks towards the door.

"Where do you think you're going?" asked Mr Fristle in a scruffy voice.

          Benjamin turned around and said
"I'm late for an event, I was supposed to be there an hour ago."

"So, get back here detention is not over!" yelled Mr Fristle as he got up from his seat.

"I'm sorry, but this is really important" Benjamin said trying to compromise.

"Sit down young man, I said detention's not over!" snapped Mr Fristle in a harsh tone, Benjamin reluctantly sat down and let out a frustrated groan.

           The bell rings, detention is finally and school's dismissed, Benjamin dashed out of detention and ran to his locker, he opens it and suddenly a shiny piece of gold coloured paper falls down to his feet, he picks it up and sees a familiar symbol printed on it, he assumes it's just a dumb joke and throws it away, dismissing all forms of curiosity. Everyone walked out of their classes into the hall as Benjamin walked out the main gate.

         Carla strolled to the center of the hallway as her followers set up a stand for her to make her "important announcement". She stands on it and says:

"Hello everyone" but as expected everyone ignored her.

"Listen to me!" she screamed and suddenly everyone stopped to pay attention, "I'm having a birthday party next weekend and everyone's invited" she said with a grandiose expression "Try to live up to my class, I don't want anyone to be humiliated on my own birthday.''

       Some people rolled their eyes at her proud statements and just walked away, while others were cheerful and excited at the thought of being invited to a party. She steps down from the stand and walks up to Iris who was standing by her locker.

"Your invited as well, don't be late" she said as she turned around to leave.
