I wake up the next morning feeling better than I did the day before. I sit up carefully, and look to my right. I see Lisa, still asleep. I turn to my clock and see that it's 7:45 am. Why am I up this early? I gently roll out of my bed, and into my closet. I grab my sweatpants, hoodie and a fresh new t-shirt. I pull my clothes on quickly and open the door, careful not to make any noises that would wake Lisa or Alex. I tiptoe down the stairs and look in each of the rooms briefly to find the bathroom. I go out into the living room, then peek in the doors. I go down the other hallway and find the bathroom. I go in, wash my face, go to the bathroom and borrow a brush to striahgten out my hair a bit. I walk back out into the living room and find the remote. I turn on the TV and turn it down. I flip through the channels and settle on my favorite cartoon; Pokemon. I hear a collar shaking and turn to see Sebastian wanting to jump up on the couch. I tap the seat next to me and he hops up and sits on my lap.

I watch TV for a little while until I hear footsteps. I freeze. Oh no. What if I'm not supposed to be awake yet? What if they get mad? I turn to see Lisa. I look at her and say, “I'm sorry. I didn't want to wake you so I came out here.” “It's fine Jo.” She says sitting down next to me. Good. She's not mad. “How'd you sleep?” I ask Lisa who was playing with Sebastian. “Pretty good. How about you?” she says looking over at me. “I slept alright. Felt good to know that I wouldn't get slapped awake if I forgot to do something.” I say looking down at my hoodie. “You got slapped awake?” she asks looking at me. “Yeah. My mom, or, Mitchy, hit me if I forgot to do something, and if I forgot to do something before bed, she would slap me awake.” she takes my hand and says, “Well, we don't hit people awake. We either kiss them or shake them. Depending on how close you are.” We both laugh.

“So, you hungry?” She says getting up, little Sebastian running away to Alex and Lisa's room. “Uh, yeah. A little bit.” I say following her to the kitchen. “Want some coffee?” She says turning on the K-Cup pack. “Yes please. Can I have some toast too?” I say leaning on the island. “Most certainly. She brews me a cup of french vanilla coffe and toasts me some bread. “Stuff for toast is in the cabinet and butter is in the fridge.” She says handing me my cup and a butter knife. I take it and look in the cabinet. Nutella. “Can I have some Nutella?” I ask Lisa as she brews her cup of coffee. “Since I'm in a good mood, yes, You can use some of my precious Nutella.” I smile and thank her. I sit down at the small dinner table and eat.

I glance at the clock. 9 am. “What time does Alex usually wake up?” I ask. “Well, if he's been drinking, noon or 1 o'clock. But on a regular day, 10 or 11. Why?” she says putting a cup of coffee in the microwave. “He said we would go enroll me in Dulaney today.” “Oh yeah. I'll wake him up and remind him.” She says as she walks down the hallway and up to their room. I sit, drink my coffee and eat my toast. So far, so good.
