As the crowd slowly dispersed the sky began to darken by the shadowy clouds. People cleared the streets quickly from the indication of rain. Looking towards Neuvillette you noticed his hand on the bridge of his nose, an expression of dismay. Being Iudex must be much more difficult than you thought, the way they all pestered him angrily for answers that he clearly did not have. It brought you a sense of appreciation towards him, perhaps that stoicism was necessary to control unstable situtations like mass panic.
Harsh droplets ran down your uniform as you can hear their pattering on your hat. Not that you didn't enjoy a good rain but, it was probably best to retreat for the day. Tugging on Neuvillette's coat you ushered,
"Let's get out of the rain, yeah?"
"Allow me to stay in the rain just a while longer."
he lets the rain drench him"Then, I'll stay right here with you."
you announced, taking place next to himHe tips your hat down over your eyes
"Get some rest, I wouldn't want you to fall ill with a cold on my behalf""...Alright, but don't mope out in the rain for too long either"
You warn before relecutantly retreatingInvestigation did not provide an excuse from your usual job. You weren't completely neglecting your original duties, in fact there was a sort of unspoken buddy system between the Gardes and Melusines as of now. In addition it seems like even the maintenance crew was reconciling with Rohrette after your talk with them. As for the general investigation, that would be more extensive and continue out longer as every fragment of observation was necessary for the promised press conference.
Since your findings on Rohrette wasn't as prominent to the case, especially with the evidence pointing fault away from her, then you didn't really have much of a role to be as severely occupied as Neuvillete was with the case. You'd like to think you had enough of a sense to know when cheery pestering is needed, so to not overwhelm Neuvillette with another nuisance you limited the overbearing energy for now.
Office day happened to fall on the day prior to the official press conference. You and all other investigators would need to submit a report along with the clue journal of all related findings. You wondered how high of a stack Neuvillette would be stuck going through, on top of writing himself and Furina a coherent guide of what needs to be mentioned to the people.
Of course not wanting to distract him greatly during this dire time that needs his uptmost attention you'd resort to the closet office. There wasn't a huge load of letters to assess, meaning you'd have plenty of time write an organized report of your findings. The office seemed to have collected a bit of dust over time. Recalling how you promised not to abuse office day by frequently taking up his offer, that was a forgotten discipline.
Cracking your knuckles you begun tidying up to have a decent environment since you were not graced with the cleaning services that Neuvillette's office had. That closet of an office had a spiffy transformation, if you do say so yourself, it was practically sparkling. Your admiration over the hard work was interrupted by the ring of the phone. Picking it up you answered,
"Hello! This is [Name], Cheif officer of the MPS."
"Ahem, it's office day is it not?"
you immediately recognized the elegant tone,
"Neuvillette?! Yes, it's office day. Did something happen?"
you weren't expecting a call from him
