I woke up to find Sacha curled up beside me in my bed, tightly clutching Cheese against himself.

I smiled, slipping my fingers into his brown locks, playing with it.

It's been a year since August left. August is remarried now. Today is August's day with Sacha, and I'm not looking forward to it.

Sacha is my world. He's my little buddy, and I miss him a lot when August has him, even if it's one day every few weeks.

I glanced at my clock, frowning as I saw the time.

Eight twenty-nine. Sacha goes to August at ten.

Sacha eventually woke up around nine thirty and he was really clingy. I definitely didn't mind though.

Now though Sacha and I are sitting in the car, on the way to the meeting spot.

"Daddy, I don't wanna go," Sacha frowned while we sat in the parking lot.

"I know kiddo," I spoke, trying not to show any sadness. "You'll be alright Sacha," I spoke, ruffling his hair.

"Why don't you want to go?" I asked.

"Because August is mean to you," he frowned.

I rubbed his head. "He's still your dad, Sacha, you don't use his name,"

Sacha nodded. "I'm sorry,"

"It's okay kiddo," I smiled at him.

"I don't like Garret either," Sacha frowned.

I almost cringed at his name.

I've run into him several times since I caught him fucking my spouse on my couch. None of them have been very pleasant. He acts smug and as if he's better than me.

"I don't either," I spoke a little sadly. "But he's your dad's new husband, kiddo, and you gotta respect him, if nothing else." I added.

Sacha nodded, fiddling with the sleeve of his hoodie. "Why did you and dad break up?"

"Well," I started, furrowing my brow.

How do you explain divorce to a seven year old?

"You know how you have a best friend?" I asked. "You'd get upset if he said he had a best friend who wasn't you, right?"

Sacha nodded, staring up at me.

"Well, August was my best friend, my husband," I explained. "And he made a new best friend, Garret. Which really hurt me because August promised to always be my best friend,"

Oh god if Sacha says anything about this to August I'm never going to hear the end of it.

"But can't people have more than one best friend?"

"Well, some people do. Like uncle Beck, and Joey, and Zac," I nodded. "But me and your dad didn't talk about having more than one best friend, and it really hurt me because he did it without talking to me,"

Sacha made a little "oh" noise.

August knocked on the car window, startling me. I turned to him, rolling the window down.

"Hey," I spoke, a little quietly.

"Sacha, come on, we're gonna go eat at the pizza place," August spoke, ignoring me entirely. He was using a very chipper annoyed tone. I don't like it.

Don't talk to my son like that.

Sacha's face fell for a moment before he nodded.

"I'll have him back at eight." August spoke dryly, starting back toward Garret's vehicle.
