sorry for taking so long, I'll try to post more regularly but for now enjoy this one. Smut is coming up next, hehe.
also wishing you a happy new year!"So, you wanna tell what surprise songs you're gonna play at the show tonight?" Paul asks me checking his guitars while I'm gulping down the cool water in between rehearsal breaks.
"Mmm, maybe" I say smirking and taking another sip of water.
"Oh come on, I've known you forever, Tay. Travis is coming tonight, isn't he? You've got it all planned out, admit it." He playfully rolls his eyes.
"Ugh, well. I'm definitely gonna play endgame and I've arranged that the crowd is gonna light up in red and yellow. Because of the K-"
"Because of the Kansas City Chiefs, I know, I know." Paul laughs.
"I'm so happy for you, kiddo." He pulls me in for a hug and then goes to check on the other band members.
I pull out my phone and click on Travis' contact.
He picks up after the first ring.
"Hey, baby girl, whatcha doing ?"
"Umm, just had an idea but I wanted it to run by you before I actually do it tonight."
"Shoot."
"So you know, in the song Karma there's the line
'Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me', right ? And I was thinking about switching it up a little for tonight."
"Go on" he says.
"Well, I was thinking about 'karma is the guy on the chiefs coming straight home to me', would that be okay with you? I'm not sure if I'm really gonna do it though" I say cautiously.
Travis didn't answer for a few seconds.
"Trav, are you still there ? Say something. Is it too much? I don't have to do it. I was just an idea and I just realised how stupid it sounds. Forget th-"
"Tay, I would be so honoured."
"Seriously?"
"Yeahh, my girl singing in front of thousands of people that I'm the guy. Like, come on. That's a dream come true."
"So, you're okay with this?"
"Absolutely, I'm so excited for tonight. To see you shine and do what you love most. It makes me so proud, you can't believe it"
"Travis, you gotta stop it or I'm gonna start crying. " I say biting my lip.
"Okay, I'll stop. I'll see you tonight, babe." He says and I hang up the phone, pressing it to my chest.
"Taylor, you gotta start getting ready for tonight." Tree shouts from the back of the stage.A few hours later
I could already hear the fans scream their tails off and every night I'm so grateful for them. Especially since it's so hot and they're still here. Singing and dancing and screaming along to my songs. It blows my mind every single time. While my stylist is doing their work on my hair I decide to check in with my dad who is responsible for getting Travis to the VIP Tent tonight.
"Hey, Dad is everything going well?"
"Hi, Honey. Yeah, everything's fine. I've got Travis in the golf cart with me and we're about to drive to the tent. How're you feeling ?" I hear my dad's voice through the speaker of my iPhone.
"Oh, I'm so excited and I'm feeling really good" I say, grinning from one ear to the other.
"I'm so glad to hear that. Oh, we're here. We'll see you soon, honey. Bye."
"Bye, dad. Bye, Trav."
"Bye, Tay." I hear Travis' voice before the connection is cut off.
I close my eyes and lean back for a few seconds before it knocks at the door.
My stage manger comes in and smiles at me.
"Taylor, we're ready for you. 5 Minutes, you coming ?"
"Alright, thank you" I say pushing myself out of the make up stool as I hang my ear pieces around my neck before making my way to the golf cart, which drives me straight to the cleaning cart, which brings me under the stage.
Once I arrived at the lift under the stage, I put my ear pieces in and hear the countdown right before the intro to miss americana & the heartbreak prince starts playing. The lift goes up and I walk out of the huge capes that my dancers are elegantly swinging through the air. My first look goes to the vip tent immediately and I've never been happier that I could see inside of it so clearly. A huge smile is plastered all over Travis' face as he watches and cheers for me like he's never done anything but exactly that.
Throughout the concert I cannot stop looking at him and I think the fans might start to notice that it's actually a private concert just for Travis and 70,000 people just happen to be there, but oh well.
It hasn't been long since I've released my version of 1989, and I've seen a TikTok where some girl had the brilliant idea of mashing up my vault track "is it over now?" with "out of the woods" and that's what I've been secretly rehearsing for a few days. I start strumming the guitar and the fans are losing their minds when they realise that I'm singing "is it over now?". When I come to that point I can't stop the grin from spreading all over my face as I start singing the bridge to "out of the woods". And I swear I've never heard them scream so loud. I'm having the best time and once I'm done I make my way to the piano and without a big explanation the first notes of "end game" are floating through the stadium. This song is entirely dedicated to Trav and I hope he knows it. Because he is my end game.
I look into the crowd and my plan worked. The stadium is lit in yellow and red. My gaze travels over to the tent and meets Travis' eyes gloating with admiration. The show goes on and I'm really excited for Travis' reaction to the midnights set. Not only "Karma" but also the "vigilante shit" performance.
As I drag the chair across the stage I wink at him before I spread my legs and slowly sit down on the chair, singing the lyrics to probably the most cunty performance I've ever done in the last 17 years. I'm keeping it extra sexy tonight and glancing over at him a lot. It might be uncomfortable for Trav because my dad is literally standing right next to him but honestly that's the fun of it all and the thought of his pants getting tighter while watching me perform makes me feel really good.
When Karma comes up I get really giggly and nervous. I've done a few note changes in the past but I've never spontaneously changed the words to a songs. So when the last chorus comes up and I sing "Karma is the guy on the chiefs coming straight home to me" neither I nor my dancers can keep a straight face and everybody is just laughing and having the best time. I can see Travis clapping and hiding his face in his hands struck with astonishment. After the show I make my way through the basement of the stage and wait a few seconds until I get the signal that Travis and my dad are also out. I walk through the back waving to my fans until I can't keep it together anymore and run towards Trav, who is standing in front of the tent which parts the front of the stadium from the changing rooms and the other stuff. He looks so proud and has his hands clasped behind his back as if he's letting me decide of how he wants to greet me. I run into his arms and crash my lips into his as his steady hands pick me up and twirl me through the air a little bit. The fans erupt into cheers when he puts his arm around me and whispers in my ear:"Tay, this was incredible. You are incredible. I'm so fucking proud that I get to call you my girlfriend". I snuggle closer toward him and we make our way backstage to the changing room.
"I'm just gonna change and shower real quick" I say over my shoulder already heading for the restrooms.
"Well, actually" Travis says, coming up to me sneaking an arm around my waist and resting his hand on my hip. "I'm actually quite sweaty myself, so why don't we go home and take a shower together ?" He suggests smirkingly.
"And, I want to enjoy this hell of an outfit that you're wearing" His eyes float over my dark blue midnights bodysuit, taking in every piece.
"Well, if you say so" I smile and we make our way to the back exit of the stadium where a car is already waiting for us. As I get in I say: "Oh, I was also thinking that maybe I'll show you the vigilante shit performance once again. I had the feeling my dad and 70,000 other people were distracting you a little bit. Although I don't think I have the right chair for it at home." I wink at him, sliding into the car.
"Oh, what a shame. I guess my lap will have to do." He whispers with a rasp in his voice.
