My Dorm room was right beside Yukio's and Rin's, so I woke up listening to them arguing with each other. I heard them both quiet down and a few minutes later Rin was knocking on my door.
"I convinced Yukio to let us tag along on his exorcism case, hurry and put your uniform on or he's going to leave." Rin said, bouncing on his feet.
I closed the door in his face but quickly brushed my hair and put my uniform on. I walked over and knocked on their door, Rin answered and pulled me inside. His excitement was obvious, so much so that apparently, he forgot what happened yesterday.
Yukio pulled out a ring of keys before choosing one. "This is the supply shop key. It's one of the keys that only qualified exorcists are given." Rin looked curiously at the key ring, "You got a boatload huh."
Yukio slipped the key into the dorm room door, when he opened it, the scenery was completely different. We were on some sort of bridge. I peeked over the edge, a very high bridge. Rin looked around astounded as we followed Yukio.
I tuned out their conversation, which I do with most of their conversations. I half listened to Yukio just in case he said something important.
Yukio led us to a house surrounded by trees and plants. "Okay, I'm going to get my shopping out of the way so you two wait outside."
"I want to go in, too!" Rin said. "Only exorcists and above can enter the store." Yukio replied. He walked halfway up the steps leading to the house before pausing. "Don't wander off and don't touch anything!"
"Just go will you!" Rin yelled. It seemed like no one was going to talk about yesterday and I was tired of being pissed at both of them, so I'd just forget it for now.
"That Yukio is treating me like a little kid." Rin grumbled. He then proceeded to do a terrible imitation of Yukio. I laughed but quickly covered it up with a cough. Rin flashed a grin at me before turning to walk away, he paused looking at the second set of steps.
"Yukio said not to wander off." I told him. "I'm just looking." He said, starting up the steps. I sighed and followed behind him. When we made it to the gate he stopped to look around. Behind it was a garden filled with millions of colorful flowers, nearby a girl with blonde hair was sitting down planting more.
Rin reached to open the gate but quickly pulled back, "ouch!" I looked at the gate and then at him, how had he even hurt himself? I looked back at the gate to see one of the doors falling. "Rin what did you do!" I hissed. "All I did was touch it!" he insisted.
The girl in the garden looked up, surprised. "Hey, I didn't do anything. It totally broke on its own." I nodded trying to sell our case. "Y... you're a demon." She said.
My blood ran cold, how could she tell? I had made sure that nothing could give us away, we both had sharp canines and longer ears but that could be quickly explained as something else. Besides from this angle my hair should be covering my ears.
"Th... the demon warding gate." She stammered. I cursed internally, Rin had completely given himself away, if not me as well. As long as the girl didn't scream the two of us could probably make a run for it.
"Demon warding gate?!" Rin stared at the broken gate. "Oh, crap you mean it reacted to me?" he whispered so only I could hear. "We can make a run for it." I said quietly.
"Stay out you demon!" I flinched, we weren't demons, not fully anyways. "Hey, I'm not a demon! Don't jump to conclusions!" Rin walked through the gate to prove a point, but it just scared the girl anymore. "Rin!"
The girl tried to crawl away, but she kept falling. "Hey, is something wrong with your legs?" Rin asked. I stared at him; he was so blunt. The girl stopped and looked back at us. "So, you're not demons?" she asked. "Of course not! Anyways... Do you need some help?"
