Upon hearing the alarm, I was startled out of my sleep as it reverberated loudly against the walls. I grabbed the clock and tossed it at the door, but my brother Aaden opened the door, and the clock hit him in the forehead.
He gets a hanger and throws it at me.
"Ooww, Aaden," I said, massaging my forehead. He lets out a loud laugh. Saying, "It's not my fault you hit me first," I gave him a death gaze. He rolls his eyes and mutters, "Okay, fine, I'm sorry." "And why did you barge in my room like that?" I stand up and move to the small garbage pin, picking up the broken bits of the clock. "Because it is time to pray, Fajr."
Oh my god, I totally forgot about salat.
I shove my brother out of the room, but before he leaves, he says, "Come downstairs before Hooyo starts yelling." "I will," I reply, hoping to arrive on time before everyone finishes the food. I get a pink towel from my closet and head to the bathroom.
After a fifteen-minute shower, I came out of the bathroom, glanced in the closet, and grabbed a two-set piece of sage green jilbab with a beige cardigan.
"Oh my god, where is that black niqab? I swear I put it in here," I said, trying to find the niqab I was looking for. I was really going to get my ass beaten if I didn't come downstairs fast. When I finally found the niqab, I heard my phone ringing. I checked my phone, and I saw the caller. It was a call from Aisha, my best friend.
I met her in grade 9 on the first day of school. I fell on top of her because I tripped on my dress. I answered
the call, "Hey, did something happen?" I asked, worried. She only calls when it's important.
I heard Layla in the back, as well as my best friend and Aisha's older sister. "Nothing happened. Layla and I wanted a ride. We asked Zainab, but she is already at university.". "Oh, okay, I will pick you guys up in 20 minutes."
I put the phone down on the bed and put my niqab on. "Okay, thank you, Ayaan. I love you." I smile "I love you too." Aisha and Layla said goodbye before hanging up.
"AYAAN, come downstairs!" My hooyo yells, which startles me, making me drop my phone. "WAAN IMANAYAA HOOYO!" I yell back, picking up my phone and dashing downstairs.
(I'm coming, mom.)
I see my sister Khadija with her 2-month-old baby girl in her hands. She named her Isra.
I walked over to them. "Give me my niece," I said, making Khadija laugh. She handed me her little Isra. I smiled so hard that my cheeks hurt. "Aren't you a little cute thing?" I said it in a baby voice, making Isra laugh and making me smile more. I start tickling her, and she laughs more, showing her baby gums.
