ALL IN THE EYES - that's how it was. And in the end, that's all that was needed between the golden haired girl and and ocean eyed boy.

     For the second time in his life Elizabeth Alder had slipped from his grasp, leaving him behind in their small town alone with an empty space in his heart where her love previously lived.

A tragedy, or misfortune some might call it - The event of loosing a woman such as the golden haired girl, not just once, but twice.

     But as his Ellie walked from him to the Flander man at the door, although his heart sad on the outside, Thomas didn't feel the same sadness as he did ten years ago. Deep down in the core of his heart he felt the same as he did the day before and years before that.

     Perhaps it was his denial, him holding onto any sliver of hope that the love of this life wasn't gone for good, and it was just a figure of his imagination. But Thomas Shelby couldn't rid the sight of the small twitch of the Alder girl's left cheek and quick blink of her eyes as she told him 'yes' before letting go of his hand and taking another.

To most those small minuscule movements from the girl would've been brushed over and tossed to the side, if even caught in the first place, but for Thomas they were unmissable and everything he needed and more; To know not just that the words she spoke weren't her truth (as much as she tried to lead them to be), but to know she was in fact still his.

His heart felt cold without the warmth of the golden girl's love. It was a feeling he lived with for a decade - one he should be used to - but after being thawed from its icy state during her return to him, the coldness that returned felt not only uneasy but wrong.

Going longer and longer without her presence, her smile, her laugh, her love, the Shelby man's heart continued to threaten to freeze over once again. But the small glimmer of hope that he so desperately held onto, as if his life depended on it, was the only thing that kept it from doing so.

And as if guided by that small glimmer of hope that flicker in the depths of his heart, he finds himself at his desk in his office in the better shop.

     Gently he grabs a freshly crisp piece of paper from that he picked up earlier that week from the press. The paper has the new official family business name atop in dark black ink in the font that the Alder girl picked out of the bunch: Shelby Brothers Limited, and below his new official title within the family business: Mr Thomas Shelby - Managing Director, the official address of their new family business to the right of that: No. 6 Watery Lane, Small Heath.

     Sliding the piece of paper into the typewriter that sits in from of him, Thomas Shelby steals a quick glance at the picture frame (the one that he previously always had laid face down) that now stands up angled in the perfect position to view for whomever sits in the chair before he begins typing;

     M....

     His finger stops in motion as his mind takes a moment to think, before he proceeds;

     My Dearest Ellie...
