2 and a half years we've been trying, and have been dropped in the deep end with no luck. At this point I thought we were never going to be parents, IVF didn't seem to be doing anything either, until this morning.
My hands shook, I slowly placed down the pregnancy test, and covered my mouth as I began to cry. It was positive.
I checked the other one I took, to make sure it was accurate. Once again, two bright red lines sat before my eyes.
Never so badly have I wanted Kalyn home right now, but he wasn't. He was in the Gold Coast for the next fortnight, training for State of Origin.
"Holy shit." I mumbled, it felt like all air had been snatched from my lungs. Running my fingers through my hair, I walked out of the kitchen and grabbed my car keys.
I've always dreamt of the moment that I could throw something together to tell Kalyn we were having a baby. When I got out to my car, I sat in there as I called my doctors office, I was not going to waste anytime.
I booked in as I drove, which I got in for monday morning 9:45am. I knew exactly how I wanted to tell Kalyn, I just needed to find where I could get this one item.

TIME SKIP
————————When I left my doctors appointment, I sat in my car and just stared at the ultrasound pictures that sat in my clasp. I felt myself getting teary, again. It was still so hard believe.
Soon enough I was home, which was where I was finally getting everything organised to announce it to Kalyn. I let Sage inside, who instantly jumped up on me.
"Hey baby girl, are you going to help mama surprise daddy?" I giggled at her excitement to see me. Placing the tiny jersey on the couch cushion, I gestured her up onto the lounge.
This was bit I was nervous about, getting Sage to hold the ultrasound. "Very careful baby." I whispered. She was very well trained, so she very gently took the top corner of the pictures.
This was perfect, now I just needed her to stay still. "Good girl." Whispering, I managed to snap a few shots. Taking it from her again, I placed it down on the coffee table and sat down, scrolling through them.
I smiled, "Oh you're a photogenic one, hey?" She rested her head on my lap. I was getting really nervous, but excited. Not nervous about telling Kalyn, just the whole idea was still a lot to process. Because I was so excited to tell him, he was the one that asked to have kids in the first place.
I went back out to the car, to go get the picture printed out. I know I'm throwing it together really quickly, but that's just what happens in this sort of situation.
I sat in the car silently as I drove, a smile printed on my face, which wasn't going to go away anytime soon. As I locked the car and walked into Harvey Norman, my phone rang. It was Kalyn. Gosh this was going to be tough to keep on a low.
"Hey lovely, how are you bub?" I could hear his lit up tone from across the phone. "I'm good, missing you though. How are you and the boys? Hot up there I hear?" He laughed, "bit sweaty yes. We're good, DCE sprained his ankle though so that's a bit inconvenient."
"Oh shit, do they recon he'll be right for game one?" Poor bugger. "Yeah he should be good to go, anyways, what are you up to?" I bit my lip, trying to figure out what to say. "Um I'm just grabbing stuff for dinner, gonna try keep it simple and try make your caesar salad. Won't be as good as your cooking but it's worth a shot I guess."
He laughed slightly, then sighed, "make sure you cook the chicken thoroughly, I don't want you getting food poisoning again. I've got to go love, just wanted to check up on you, I'll call you tonight. I love you baby girl."
