He felt like a total asshole.

He would be the first to admit he'd been forgetful. Leaving clothes on the floor and leaving his keys on the counter. Hell, there were even times he'd forget to feed the dogs and feel terrible afterward. He'd leave unrinsed dishes on the counter; his infractions were numerous. He collapses onto the couch with his head in his hands. His outburst was purely impulse, one he regretted the moment he saw the pain in Corinne's eyes.

"You're a goddamn idiot, Bruce." Danny crossed his arms over his chest.

"I know." It was all he could bring himself to say.

Two years ago, he learned Danny and Rin had a one-night stand. They'd both been drunk off their asses. Rin had sworn it had been the only time. He believed her, she never had a reason to lie to him. He pulls out his phone, he'd attempted multiple calls and texts. With how heated she'd been he would not be surprised if she was ignoring him. He sent continuous messages to Yumi and Jo hoping they would be able to run damage control for him. The answers made him physically flinch.

I can reach out Bruce, but I'm not a miracle worker. Start working on an apology.

Tough shit mate, you probably asked for it. I'll reach out, just remember you'll owe me.

"I called too, no response." Danny sits next to him. "What were you thinking? Who did you accuse her of being with?"

"Andy Biersack."

He cried out in pain at Danny smacking him directly in the back of the head. He was becoming increasingly aware of his stupidity. If his mother-in-law caught wind of the accusation there would be nowhere for him to hide. She would find him and his body would be plunged into the River Thames never to be seen or heard from again.

"Are you mental?" Danny hissed. "He's been in the States, mate. How could Rin even pull it off? We both know the firecracker is a workaholic."

This led to the pit in his stomach growing exponentially with every deep breath he took. His phone lit up his whole body went still. It was Nora August. He answered mentally dreading what was about to happen. He could hear an eerie silence on the line. He'd been instructed that silence was designed to instill a mental state of dread. It was a technique Nora August used for years against her children. He had also been informed not to speak. It was the equivalent of smelling blood in the water. He waited his nerves clawing away at his very soul.

"Rin tells me you had quite the morning."

"Yes, ma'am." He didn't elaborate any further. There was no denying that he was terrified, he still remembered her judgmental tone asking every question under the sun. Just how safe was her daughter being in a relationship with him? Now that Corinne had her claim to fame, he asked himself the same question.

"I don't know what possessed you to make them accusations Benjamin, but if you continue to accuse her of cheating, she will leave you with nothing."

"Yes, ma'am, I understand." He says biting his lip.

"I know my Rin, she's not the type to vocalize when she's struggling. I'm going to be expecting you both to have apologies at the ready."

"How is she?" He asks already beginning to strategize his apology.

"She's out cold in the guest room. I have one of my nurse friends looking her over."
