━━━THE NEXT DAY CAME far too early for the Knight girl, sleep eluding her grasp and leaving her exhausted. Her mind was a whirlwind of whispers, keeping her from the rest she so desperately needed, and without proper sustenance of sleep, she felt like she was operating on empty. But she was determined, though, to push through the day, no matter the obstacles.

Insomnia wasn't always a companion of hers.

Alaska used to love sleeping, often waking up at the request of the quartet of terrapin brothers as she snoozed into the late hours of the day. But now, insomnia haunted her nights, the demons in her mind coming in the form of nightmares, attacking her when she finally got sleep. Thankfully, she never remembered the awful dreams, but she did remember how they felt.

Fear, helplessness, sadness, grief, and thump thump thump.

She couldn't shake the unsettling feeling that had started wrapping its way around her.

This is why she chose to return to the barn (and lab) with the purple genius, along with his trusted companion, Casey, to spend her day doing something productive. Now that Leonardo was back in the land of the living, it was a good distraction, maybe an excuse, to forget about it all. That was usually what Alaska did when things got stressful – drowning herself in work so she didn't have to face the reality of things.

It was already six in the afternoon and with it being early October, the days were still long, so the sun was just starting to set when Alaska got around to installing a new seat on her beloved Ducati Bike. The new seats were something she would have to thank April for, seeing as the other woman somehow got her hands on the much-needed part after hearing Alaska mention the damage her bike took during the escape from New York.

A damn lifesaver.

The young, ebony-haired girl was squatting beside the bike, her brows pinched in frustration as tiny incoherent words were said under her breath.
